I certainly hope this place is vacant on 11/2
until the polls close. We have 55,000 members here, and who knows how many more lurkers. That ammounts to a pretty massive GOTV macine if we aren't too lazy. Remeber: We are still down a point or two in the polls. I refuse to assume that the new voters, challenger advantage, and cell phone users will automatically swing things our way. Yes, these things might happen, but don't take them for granted. I have been seeing alot of people jumping to the conclusion that Kerry has won already (which bothers me alot). This race is not finished yet!

Everybody post below what you are doing Election Day to help GOTV.

Me: Working all day with the Kerry team in Milwaukee.

1. Good point
This is an important issue in this country, and we need to address it. Kerry HASN'T won, and probably won't even have that opportunity until months after the election. Earlier in the day, people will be at work or the polls, and some will be there all night. But as the evening draws to a close, this place will enter a state of madness. The admins posted a thread about emergency measures to be taken to handle the traffic. Around 10 p.m., this place may be unaccessible except to donors to the site. We have to get coverage out of the recent scandals, and mass e-mails to news networks about the KSTP story will be a must. Unlike past administrations, the gloves are off, and the media services are waking up to the fact that they can indeed debunk the monkey. After Dan Rather, they got scared, but they have paydirt this time. Even the FBI is stamping down on their asses. But, again, people must be INFORMED.

4. Good points...except
The point of this thread was to post what you were doing. I don't mean to sound obnoxious, just trying to clarify.

3. Hope its not too vacant.
I'm most likely chewing my fingernails and hitting F5 on DU all night.

Since I doubt that we have any live coverage over here in Finland, what websites would you recommend to watch? (Besides the obvious, of course).

Best of luck. To all of us. (Hell, this election should have absolutely Nothing to do with luck tho')

Martti

11. I would think there will be quite a few of us who will be
working in campaign or phone bank places where they can log on occasionally.

I hope to hear from them

12. I was traveling during the last debate, so I took a very small
radio with headphones, so I got to hear it while standing in line for my rent car, collecting my luggage and so forth.

I think I'd sure take something like that with me to bowling that night. :)

14. What will I do?
Here in Iowa, 95% of all eligible are now registered to vote! We plan to have the largest voter turnout in the country...precinct by precinct.

I've volunteered for four surrounding precincts. All day on Tuesday, volunteers will be bringing Dem voter lists to my house, from each precinct. All day long, they'll be crossing people off as they show up at the polls.

My job is to call, and call until each, and every voter on the lists have shown up at the polls...all the way till closing time :)

I'm so proud of Iowa right now! We started this thing, and we will finish it in the biggest way we can.

I predicted John Kerry as the winner in Iowa one week before Dean's meltdown. I went to the caucuses for Kerry. I'm member 472 at jk.com. I've volunteered at many rallies. I've made hundreds of phone calls. I succeeded in pulling JK's caravan over in the middle of nowhere, by standing in the road to stop the bus...an "impromptu" rally of about 75? people. I was at the door of the bus to shake John's hand when he was the first to jump off. :)

I'm not stopping until 9pm CST November 2, 2004!

15. I am working as a staging area captain
for the Kerry campaign's GOTV on Tuesday. I have met so many first-time campaign volunteers, that I cannot help but believe we will win. Democrats have a fire in their bellies.

19. Driving voters to polls all day in Baton Rouge
LA is within 6 points; a Kerry surge and a ton of work will make it tight and maybe the upset of the night. I'll be busting my ass to make it happen.....
