Satirical radio ad from lobbyist draws fury in Alaska senate race
http://www.adn.com/front/story/5719894p-5653268c.html

"A satiric radio ad that mocks U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens and his son drew the fury of Alaska's senior senator Wednesday as he campaigned for Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski. Stevens threatened to go on the attack in the final few days of the campaign against her Senate opponent, Democrat Tony Knowles, if the ad continued. "
<snip>

"The ad, produced and voiced by lobbyist Bill Bobrick, envisions a world where if people vote for Knowles, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., will send bees to sting Alaskans in their "nether regions" and Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., will take people's guns and enslave their children to liberals. It goes on to say, "and Ted Stevens will die, he'll die, I tell you, and then we'll be stuck with (Stevens' son) Ben Stevens, and then Frank Murkowski will have to adopt him and appoint him to the U.S. Senate."
<snip>

"Bobrick also produced another offbeat ad that sends Sen. Tom Daschle, D-N.D., to flood basements and Clinton to drown children. It urges voters: "Please think for yourself. Don't listen to ridiculous ads like this one."
<snip>

" Bobrick said he agreed to end both ads but is considering making new ones to replace them. "I'm just some little flunky," he said. "I didn't think I rose to the occasion of inspiring the ire of our senior senator."

1. A look in the mirror
It just doesn't seem as funny when we get shown what kind of ridiculous mud-slinging we have accepted in politics. This is great stuff. A true masterpiece of anti-mudslinging tactics. Its interesting that the ad, being totally independent, is causing the Republican candidate to get up in arms. I guess when you satirize the right-wing propaganda, it falls apart pretty fast.
