Freepers, they *want* to be afraid....
I read this on the FR thread about the "TERROR TAPE!!" Most believed it to be as fake as we do. But this post was truly revealing:

"Even without seeing it (I'm still stuck in the office..), it's hard to get a good scare on over it. There have been so many threats. Nothing has happened.

I'm not complacent about it. The danger is definately there. But these terror tapes have lost their fear factor for me long ago."

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1260599/posts

Wow. "Man, these new tapes just don't give me that old time terror hit that I love... *sigh*"

Many other post's had a similar disappointed air, and it's not just because they think it will help Bush, they actually long for fear.

These people are insane. Join up and go to Iraq if you want to "feel the fear", you lunatics.

They want to be afraid, and then have Bush "save" them from the boogie man. If this country ever feels secure again, they will have to blow something up themselves to be happy.

Well, I gotta go, just a thought about what we are hopefully leaving behind!

6. They should wise up and fear the REAL enemy
Bushy is the one they should be afraid of, and Cheney, and Wolfowitz, and Rice, and Powell, and Rove and the rest of the cabal that is in office now.

Think in the wee hours of the morning, under inky cover of dark, when all is quiet in their world, do the freepers ever actually contemplate and reflect and try to rationalize what their candidate has done to this country in four short years?

How do they overlook the thousands and thousands of new terrorists that are now committed to killing our soldiers and citizens, that corporate America has flourished under this administration but many families have been totally ruined? That all respect for the United States is gone globally, where not only respect is gone but we are being laughed out and ridiculed because of BoyGeorge. Is this more about their "team" winning and another one losing? It is more important not to admit they are wrong then having the guts to admit changes need to be made? They can live with the destruction of a nation to advance the philosophies and beliefs of their party? How do they ignore the record of this Chimp? Under the covers, in their bed at night, with no voices screaming in their ear, do they ever think about what Bush has done - and their part in allowing him to get away with it? And why aren't they afraid of that?

8. It's easier to be afraid of Iraqi terrorists
because they are pretty harmless. You can advocate sending in the troops and bombing the hell out of "a country".
It's a horrible combination of machismo with jingoism. You know, that whole "these colors don't run" thing. If they are still "thinking" about attacking the US, we just need to hit harder. Simple, isn't it?
This is the approach the people of Israel take. Works fine, doesn't it?

What are you going to do with Repukes? (Aside from voting them out :))

One of the arguments for invading Iraq was that "Afghanistan doesn't have any good bombing targets"

That pretty much sums it up.

2. Maybe the terror tape really helps Kerry?
I think people might realize deep down that Bush is incompetent, and ineffective at actually preventing a terrorist attack. They just bought his rhetoric because he is so much more hawkish than Kerry.

After seeing the tape, they would love to see someone responsible and competent in the White House.

4. Cowards
Of course they want that 'terror hit'. It gives them justification for tapping into the most base elements of their nature.

They get off on the thought of all those big Murkan penises (er, bombs) taking out those evil eye-rackies.
Then they can sit behind their computer screens and hoot and holler without EVER having to put their own asses on the line in this twisted, unjust war.

5. "Fear of the 'other'" doesn't work without an "other"
Left without an enemy to be able to stack in a hierarchy, within which they are naturally elevated above everyone else, the freepers would be forced to turn inward, and upon discovering that all they have is an icy heart made of shame, low self-esteem, regret, anger, sadness, self-hatred and cowardice, would probably slit their wrists with their curiously long and strangely pointed eye teeth.

You think I'm joking, but it's psychologically sound. In the totalitarian mindset, when one lacks a scapegoat, there is nothing on which to project blame -- which means that there is nowhere for all those weird-o creepy freeper emotions to go, except swirl around in their own brains.

13. They will switch to Kerry as scapegoat.
They will switch to Kerry as scapegoat and fear center. You already hear it in statements like "I fear for my country if Kerry wins".

But make no mistake about it. Terrorists will remain a present threat. Kerry is wise to devote attention to port security, as he has promised.

7. Hard to get a good scare on over the tape
Yep, that's why Tom Ridge couldn't produce it and they were so frantic to get the media to tell us. They know the WH have no credibility.

9. The Freeper has a point (I can't believe it, but he does)
These tapes, even the ones that look real unlike this one, don't scare me as they once did (I should add that I live in NY, so it is rational to feel some fear here).

By the time the last one featuring OBL appeared (over a year ago now, maybe even two), the tapes had started to lose their fear factor. I remember Mr. Chamilto coming home and asking what OBL had said, and I summarized as, "You know ... big jihad and all that crap." Mr. C started to laugh.

10. Fundies have a death wish, too. "If only the end of the world would
hurry up and get here, then Jesus will smite our enemies for us. Hooray!"

I do find 'em cowardly in that manner, poor dears. They must just live their lives in terror----afraid of the devil, afraid of furriners, afraid of people who are different and therefore BAD, afraid of our freedoms...!

Poor dears have my pity.

14. How would they react
if the threat turns out to be justified? If something happens pre-election, how can the 'Thugs spin that Shrubby keeps Americans safer?

I am NOT a religious person, but I must admit that I am praying daily for an end to this nightmare administration...
