Anybody who thinks Kerry will win in a landslide seriously underestimates
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 09:15 AM by devrc243
the GOP's ability to steal this thing. After 2000 and 2002, it's naive' and careless. Cautiously optimistic, but landslide, it won't be.

1. You seriously underestimate
How the dems have mobilized to respond to any potential theft. The ENTIRE country, including the judiciary, is watching and on alert. Totally different scenario from 2000. This time we know what's in their play book and so does the entire country.

3. That's right
They're already threatening indictment against a Ohio poll watcher who falsely accused a registered voter of fraud.

6. I don't underestimate anything with the GOP
I had Bush for a governor and watched him annihilate Ann Richards with a dirty campaign, steal 2000, and go on to reek havic on our country. No, that's just it. Some of us who have experienced this cabul way before he became president know what this group will stoop to to win.

27. Huh?
Vote as if your life depended on it, because it does.

Call 866 687-8683
If Poll Workers refuse you to vote for any reason

If there is a late opening or early closing of a polling place.
If your polling place runs out of ballots or has an incorrect ballot
If you experience poll worker insensitivity or discrimination in the voting process

When you call the hotline, be prepared to give your name, telephone number, and note as many
details as possible, including the names of the people who are involved.

with Electionprotection.org. We'll be out there with attorneys and cameras at our sides watching the polls. We've been trained on what to look for and been instructed to challange anyone who tries to prevent a person from voting.

2. It's a classic case of...
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 09:02 AM by ClassWarrior
...hope for the best but plan for the worst. Nobody's going into Nov. 2 with their eyes shut. But you can't deny anyone their optimism - especially looking at a LONG weekend of hard campaigning ahead. (Well maybe YOU can; I've seen you throw cold water on other positive trends here before.)

And speaking of plan for the worst - go sign up for email alerts at www.nov3.us. They're going to help coordinate the post-election reaction on the left should it all turn out to be a nasty mess.

18. I will be the first to bow at your feet if we win in a landslide
and I wouldn't mind at bit,;) knowing that Kerry won. After hearing my sister tell me her rwing husband says Bush will win in a landslide(of course they live in Texas--go figure:eyes:) also this week, it reminded me once again what we are dealing with here.

5. It's a scary time
I think there's a potential for landslide but then there's a potential for Kerry to lose. I've been leaning landslide while realizing it is unlikely, however well-deserved it is for Bush to be buried by a historic loss.

I just find it so hard to comprehend how anybody can reward Bush's sorry-ass record with a vote but obviously tens of millions think everything is grand. Just how bad do things have to get?

Who's more delusional, me or them?

19. I know and I agree
I can't understand how anyone could vote for him knowing how he has wrecked this country and the lives of so many families with this illegal war. I think it's the "God" thing that pulls those fundies in that keeps his support going. Otherwise it would be Kerry landslide, no doubt.

16. But remember this...
If Kerry wins - even if it's by the slightest margin - we shout "LANDSLIDE" and "MANDATE" from the highest mountaintops.

We need to win the PR battle IMMEDIATELY.

9. I don't get the landslide thing.
I'd love it to happen, but it seems highly unlikely to me. I'm still not convinced Kerry can pull it off. It's not only the aggregate of the polls that concerns me, or even the possibility of a stolen election, it's the sheeple. I'm afraid there really is a critical number of folks who are brainwashed into believing that switching presidents is a bad idea, and that at the last moment they'll go for bushco.

10. I unfortunately agree
We have several things working against us. First off are the fundamental extremists, the theocratics, the racists, the homophobics, the gun nuts, the self proclaimed "pro-lifers", the super rich, and the general IQ-of-a-speedbump crowd. These are all sure voters for *. This is his base.

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE SIZE OF THIS BASE! IT IS HUGE!

Add to that that this crowd will do anything and everything to save our souls, deliver America back to God, protect the white race, kill all queers, arm themselves with cop-killer bullets, save the unborn, protect their investments, and feel smarter than they are. Voter fraud, repression of the vote, blatant lying, outright violence, and even murder are all 100% justified to people with these mentalities. They're doing God's work, remember?

And finally, even if it IS a landslide, do you REALLY think they're going to tell us that? How would we know if it is or isn't? Kerry could win 98% of the Electoral and 98% of the popular, and I promise you that it will be a "close, disputed result" that the repubs can tie up in courts until 2008 if they have to.

Count on it.

22. I think you're missing a few things friend
First off, the 'Pugs have enough resources to wire only a few battleground states, Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, that's about it. They are having to forego operations in other states like Missouri, Colorado, etc, simply because they've not set up the operations there, and they don't have the resources/money/time to do so now.

Second, the Democrats and others interested in keeping this election clean have been preparing literally for years now to keep voter fraud/disenfranchisement to a minimum. There are poll watchers in every major precinct, and lawyers on standby. We won't be caught flat footed again.

Third, there has been a number of new voters registering, over twenty million, and states everywhere are expecting record turnouts(CA alone is expecting that eighty six percent of the registered voters will turn out). This does nothing but favor the Dems. This kind of turnout will swamp any and all attempts at 'Pug chicanery, just because of sheer size. Remember point one, that the 'Pugs are set up in only a few key states. Yes, they might tie up Florida and Ohio, but I think with a large turnout, those states won't matter, being as that Kerry will have enough electoral votes, even without those states.

You may be right, I may be right, I guess we'll just have to see.

23. To me, the question isn't Kerry's ability to win a landslide or otherwise
Rather, it is how successful we are going to be at counteracting the ugly horrid things Repukes all over this great land are doing. Voter intimidation. Smears and lies. Ballots disappearing. Names stricken from, and in the wrong place, on ballots. E-Voting w/o paper trails. Biased polling.

I think in a world where Pukes and their accomplices did not play dirty tricks, Kerry would be ahead with landslide numbers right now. People don't want a prosimian for a president. They want an intellegent, active and respected man like Kerry, who is going to put and keep the nation on the right side.

This election is going to be won in the courts, I am afraid. And it is going to come down to who plays "chicken" better and does not stear away first. ShrubCo played Chicken better than Gore, but I think Bush will more than meet his match in John Forbes Kerry. I think Kerry will show them that not all liberals melt into a little fetal heap in the corner like LIEbermann and Daschle do.
