2. Bob Smith! I have now seen everything.
Bob Smith, Ron Reagan, and John Eisenhower. What a long strange trip it's been.

I have to agree about your asessment. He IS a perfect role model for the Sproulls and the Ohio lawyers who shout at voters they're trying to intimidate, and Li'l Ricky Santorum who I have to admit to being represented by, and...

...however, the letter is very sane, and well written and may even carry more weight than John Eisenhower and the American Conservative and all the others who have seen the light beyond the * eclipse. I didn't know that light could be snuffed out for four years. It is getting brighter in here.

Do a little research on the former Senator from New Hampshire. Makes Sununu look even-keel by comparison.

17. i don't understand- he's endorsing Kerry -you say he's crazy-
and maybe he is- if Kerry accepted the endorsement then doesn't it negate the value of the endorsement? and he says his whole family is supporting JK.
Maybe Jesse Ventura is crazy-should we say that so his endorsement will be of no value?

Primary. and he is nuts.

but i'm still glad he has come out in support of kerry. for the uninformed they will just see it as a republican rejecting bush and supporting kerry. it makes kerry look like someone who can appeal to many.

Kerry is also known for keeping relationships on pretty good terms even when there are disagreements and avoiding getting personal so that probably made it easy for him to endorse kerry also.

12. I expected some kind of weasel endorsement
but he hit all the high points. He basically called the * team liars by praising Kerry's military record, which they have smeared. And there were no compliments for his party's leader--NONE!!!:)

"Bonzo" Bob Smith - my former Senator and someone who makes the late Bill Loeb look rational - voting for Kerry.

Unbelieveable.

And with a very well reasoned letter to boot.

Up IS down. Black IS white.

And Kerry is gonna win - by a...... lot of votes. :)

16. Bob Smith of Miami Relatives fame?
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 09:26 AM by kskiska
After the Miami raid to free Elian, he escorted the entire family + Fisherman to the Washington, D.C., military base where Elian and his father were esconced, as Smith was on the Armed Services Committee. They stood outside at the guard house holding Easter baskets for Elian, trying to gain entrance.

Smith already left his party once, then changed his mind.

18. This is great news
now I don't have to be completely ashamed to have that guy as an alum of my high school. I met him once in DC, he seemed nice enough, but his politics (other than this endorsement) are completely wacky!

It's a strange time indeed when I agree with both Bob Smith and Pat Buchanan on some issues

22. Call him crazy, but...
Smith has always had a broad independent streak. Make no mistake, he is a barking moonbat, conservo-loon on most issues, but he definitely goes his own way. That is a big part of the reason why the NH republican party dumped him.

I'll accept his endorsement of Kerry at face value. I'm sure that it gives Smith at least a small bit of glee to tweak the nose of the republican powers that be one more time.

23. Is that a SELECTRON IBM typewriter Senator?
It looks like it was written on a typewritter and if it was then you know that the Repugs will question it's authenticity. :silly:

Seriously, Thanks Senator. I thank you for crossing the aisle to save or Country!
