Why all the cheerleading about Kerry in a landslide? Let's be realistic
Kerry in a landslide would be him over 50% in all the polls. He's still in the 46-48% range, just like Bush. He hasn't closed the deal and it's four days away, yet, which frankly is scary.

Every poll is within the margin of error. It's still a 50/50 nation and everything will rest on turn-out. Stop cheerleading here about landslides and GOTV. Drive people to early voting this weekend, make phone calls, stand on street corners with Kerry signs, do something more productive than cheerleading at DU where every Kerry vote is already locked up...

1. Polls are not representative of the population, period.
Welcome to the DU.

2. Nonsense. He can win in a landslide with a 51% to 49% victory.

The electoral votes are all or nothing. We will cheerlead all we like. If you don't like it, ignore the threads. We sure as hell don't need pessimism right now.

4. because it is important to be optimistic
We are more motivated than we have ever been

Nothing is going to stop us from voting or getting out the vote

most of the newly registered voters are Democrats, they are NOT being counted in the polls, and they WILL vote

There is nothing wrong with being positive

16. I haven't heard a damn thing about "no need to work so hard."
Not a single person I've seen touting that on here says we should stop working.

And I happen to believe, by looking at all of the evidence before us, that a landslide is going to happen. I've been saying it for months and I'm going to keep on saying it. I still volunteer and I still donate my money. So take the tin-foil hat off for a moment and settle down.

9. Great article about analyzing polls from Kos
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uselections2004/markosmoulitsas/story/0,15139,1336232,00.html

I recommend reading this. It gives good evidence that when the incumbent is below 50% in the polls, he/she is in serious trouble. He gives lots of examples of this in the presidential race. Good reading.

And by the way, I prefer optimism to 'realism' at this popint. The reality is, polls are fallible and we don't really know who is gonna win. Optimism is more likely to inspire our GOTV efforts. The only way we can convince others to vote for Kerry is to be as positive as possible.

10. I'm sticking with 60/40 in favor of Kerry
When I say, "I don't trust the Media", I'm not joking. We'll see how red-faced (or not) I am next Wednesday (Yep, it's gonna be so over-whelming that we'll know early Wednedsday!)

13. Kerry in a landslide. The polls don't count many people who truly
do count. Why not let us be optimistic. :hi: I'm cheerleading here and canvassing in the real world. I deserve to say it. And I'm shutting up for no one! :hi:
