Or at least they're not voting...couldn't get a definitive read from them, but plenty to think about. These were friends of my in-laws who were voting for * & I called them to give them the "West Coast" perspective on why I support Kerry. Here's the jist of what I said & I hope it helps:

When the issue of security came up, I asked them which states are the most likely to be terrorist targets. No matter how much of a lunkhead you are, you cannot avoid mentioning New York, California, DC, Seattle, and pretty much any big city. These are the places where people should be (and are) most concerned about security - and guess what...

New York, California, D.C., Seattle, Philly, Boston... all top terrorist targets and all support KERRY. Overwhelmingly in most urban areas.

To say that these people haven't thought about or are not concerned with security is ridiculous. They ARE quite concerned with security, and in DC and New York it HAS hit home. So do you think it's fair that somebody from Sidney, Ohio should disrespect the concerns of these citizens on America's front lines? I don't doubt you love America, but the decision you are making will affect others before it affects you - and those people have decided to support Kerry. Maybe if terrorists were targeting COWS, the red states would have a bit more of a stake in this. It's easy to say "hoo-hah! Bring it on!" when you aren't really a target... just like it's easy for Bush, Cheney, Rummy & co to rush to war when they haven't really been in one.
