Does this soldier offer any PROOF of his story about the explosives?
The media's getting pretty harsh with Bush and the Pentagon's lies and cover-up on this explosives story.

Unless this guy has some real proof of what he alleges, then he's going to be made a laughing-stock.

3. Exactly. I don't even think the media whores will buy this
soldier's story unless there is something to back it up.

2. I agree. The media seem in no mood for more lies.
Honest reporters are realizing that, time and again, they have been LIED to. It's not a political thing, one way or the other. If you get burned enough times, you won't trust again. I don't see a problem emerging.

16. They realize that these explosives are probably killing the troops
I think that is what has shaken them into reporting the facts.

9. Who is his commanding officer?
Why isn't he discussing this and the order, etc.

Did they document their activities in some way?

5. The tactic * uses is always the same.
First, lie. Then when your lie is debunked, make an excuse. Then when evidence comes out that confirms the charge, blame someone else. Then when all else fails, trot out some lackey with a half baked story cooked up by Rove. Sickening.

11. Probably afraid of the questions to follow.
Who is your commanding officer? Why hasn't he come forth?

Did you document your activities with respect to these IAEA-marked explosives?

Stuff like that.

12. He doesn't have to have proof
They trotted a soldier out, so if the Kerry camp expresses doubt, then the Pukes go into full-spin mode that "Kerry is attacking and demoralizing our troops!" Never mind that Rudy "Count Chocula" Giuliani blamed the troops yesterday.

This is Kerry-bait. If the RNC wasn't in full-on freakout mode right now, this would have happened Wednesday.

13. It's crap and will be debunked.
Bush is toast. His campaign has no time to put together a strategy on this.

15. What proof could he possibly have?
The storage bunker was sealed. Unless this guy is David Copperfield, I don't see how he could remove the explosives and leave the IAEA seal intact.

17. This will backfire
This will backfire. It was the Bush campaign that lost several campaign days to Kerry's attacks. All this news conference will do is muddy the issue and raise more questions. It's far from a slam-dunk against Kerry. If anything, most of the damage against Bush will remain.

On top of all that, also consider the answer to reporters that basically read "We don't know that the explosives we're talking about are the same as the explosives in question". Wow.

Rove miscalculated, again.

18. It already has. The media asks more and more questions..
The news conference was a total laugh. The sum total result is the pentegon confirmed that:

1. They don't know for sure what was destroyed on April 13th, but what was destroyed was mostly if not entirely stuff that was not the explosives in question, no IAEA seals were seen

2. The April 18th visit by the 101st and news team was tacitly accepted.

3. They don't know WTF is going on.

4. Reporters will keep diggin and asking form more.

This is guaranteed to keep this story on the news till election day, Hurray! Hurray! :nuke:

20. Oh come on....
I've worked around munitions my whole career. How would he know what a IAEA seal was. I wouldn't.
If I was trying to round up ammo and the only thing stopping me was a standard lead seal. I'd be happy.
He's just another tool of the current admin.
The soldiers are not the enemy, the CINC is.

22. Nobody is blaming this soldier for anything.
This is a failure of the bush administrations policy of guarding oil assets alone.

And we know he's wrong about that, too. :eyes: Well, he'll be right, though, after the inauguration in January. Kerry in the WH and Junior in jail. :toast:
