How to win an election (from a winning candidate)

I've quoted this several times before but I'm gonna give you this, "straight from the horse's mouth", one last time.

As most of you (should) know, I'm heavily involved in Canadian Federal and local politics and I've worked for several winning candidates. At the last volunteer bash I attended the candidate got up to make a short speech. Hir said...

This has been a close election - again. If you are working for another candidate and they ask "how to win", here is the answer.

1. Identify who your supporters are, using any possible method, including telephone polls and banging on doors.
   
2. On election day, do everything possible to get your people to the polling station to vote, if you have to drag them there kicking and screaming.
   

That's it.

There is nothing more important than Get Out The Vote.

I will be monitoring DU election day. If I find any able-bodied US member posting while the polls are open, I will immediately demand WHAT THE FSCK ARE YOU DOING ON HERE?!?! WHY AREN'T YOU HELPING TO GET OUT THE VOTE?!?!

Kerry's team already knows the people it needs to win, we just need to get them to actually vote....pretty simple
