BushCo lays a TRAP...Setup Kerry ...with the 380 tons of explosives
They KNEW within 5 hours if not 50 minutes of what happened to them there weapons and explosives.

So they let Kerry go on for 5 days and now they accuse him of jumping to conclusions? Sweet for Bush Sour for Kerry.

It was a SET UP.. Them Pubs play down and DIRTY, they got nothing Pos going so they go NEG

is basically saying that they didn't say anything. This is BAD for Bush, not Kerry.

2. I gotta disagree
These campaigns have been about blitzkreig--lightening fast responses.

the fact that it took bush a day to say nothing before he said "kerry jumps to conclusions" shows the repubs did not know what to do when the story broke.

5. The Pentagon press conference sealed the deal for Kerry
They removed something from bunkers that had no IAEA seals and destroyed that on April 13, 2003.

ABC has video tape of bunkers with IAEA seals being opened on April 18,2003. HMX is inside.

The press conference backfired BIG TIME!!!

At this point the story is so muddled and ugly that all Joe Q. Public is left with is the impression that * fucked up. The Pentagon briefing showed nothing conclusive. The best the * administration can hope for is to confuse on this issue. They look like incompetent liars at this point and no amount of conferences/backpedaling will fix the issue.

This one done stuck.

35. I agree ...

The press was all over the special secretary for dragging out this BS that had NOTHING to do with the RMX and RDX. The Bush administratin is FRANTIC over this issue. And they tried to pull a slight of hand with Pearson.

Now this DOES give them the ability to imp-lie that the weapons in question were destroyed. And I'm 100% sure that the chimp will make these claims out on the stump. It's the ONLY thing they've got.

In the eyes of reason, the press conference HARMED the Bush administration. Because it showed they sent ordinance collectors to Al-Qaqa and those collectors had NO IDEA about the nature of the explosives there!!! It shows that the troops were NOT made aware about these high-value ammo caches that should have been secured!!!

Good grief - BushCO has now trotted out 3, now 4, explanations of this -- and they are all inoperable within hours. This information has been around for a while -- and according to the interim Iraqi government, Allawi says that Bush administration asked that it not be reported to the IAEA until AFTER THE ELECTION. Trap, my ass. Who knows all this stuff??? The CIA, my friend. The CIA.

If they had set the trap, why have they give 5 or 6 different explanations? Why wouldn't they have a guy who could actually tell a story that helped them? They've been scurrying around like roaches with a light shined on them.

They were completely blindsided -- their flailing, floundering and failing proves it.

They couldn't verify that the material destroyed was the IAEA sealed material in question.

Basically these guys were just sent out and left to hang in front of the world and the media...the Pentagon dummy figured he would spew some BS about how great the war in Iraq was going and then he'd leave them baffled.

It didn't happen and the whole conference just looked stupid and pointless--they didn't address the issue PERIOD.

They were counting on the press to roll over and play dead for them, and were not expecting to get lobbed a bunch of hardballs at them and definitely did not expect skeptical coverage of the press conference. That's what got them.

45. I suspect Rovian Tactics in this whole explosives story.....

A Rovian tactic is to spread mis-information to the enemy that makes the opponent look bad...and when it's disproven as absolute fact, it makes the enemy look bad.

Example #1.) RatherGate; the truth of Rather's facts were outweighed by the indignation of cries of foul play, left slanted media; not checking facts, etc. Result:? Rather looked bad, CBS looked bad, and Bush was still not proven to have gone AWOL or discharged dishonorably, or gotten favored treatment because of his father. Bush fu'd but it was once agina covered u by a smikescreen designed to do just that--divert attention from negative facts by mis-information.

Example #2.) Judge Election? or Senate? Rove ordered and paid to have people distribute flyers to neighborhoods that scandalized his candidate. Everyone thought that the other guy did it, and it was right before the election; he couldn't retract it...awful mess.

Hatfield?

I'm worried that Mohammed Abbas was paid favors to release the info to the IAEA. Why else would he do this right now? He knew it would hurt Bush. If he leaked the info, and it's proven that the explosives were stolen prior to the invasion, then we have egg on our face, and it detracts from the real issues.

Every time I hear Bush say: Check your facts, I shiver. (He doesn't check his facts, he lies.) But it seems like a set-up.

If someone could give me a good reason why Abbas would release this info to the IAEA, I'd appreciate it!

With this new information, we need to ask how Major Pearson could have removed 250 tons of ammo in one day...Impossible.

50. I disagree, the only thing that is happening here is an attempt by the
White house to spin this their way. Someone didn't tell Cheney that the press conference was a disaster, he just told a crowd of adoring freepers in Michigan that the soldier told people that he destroyed 200 tons of the explosives in question, when the end result of the conference was that NON of the explosives in question were destroyed, 250 tons of other stuff but not IAEA sealed explosives.

This is one huge disaster for *co and can only get better for us.

51. Nonsense
Rove didn't feed this story to the NYT or 60 minutes and he certainly didn't know about the Minnesota video tape. It is too close to the election to pull such a "trap", because in a best case scenario they still lost the news cycle for 3 or 4 days in the week before the election. They have been spinning for their lives with this thing- Drudge (the Russians), Rudy (the troops- bad), Pentagon photos (Saddam), army boy (the troops again- but good). If this was a Rove setup they would have all been on message from the start, like they were with the "forged documents". No, this is their fuck-up, and as Sonny B. once said, the beat goes on.

This is so bad for the bushies my head is spinning.

Think about it: 380 TONS of explosives that the military UNDER HIS COMMAND did NOT SECURE.

There is no proof they secured it. There is no proof the military has it now.

In fact, all indications point to the explosives having been taken by Iraqi insurgents in the weeks after the invasion.

Which means it solves the mystery of the last several months, namely "where are the insurgents GETTING all that shit to blow up our troops with?"

Oh geez this is beyond bad. It's catastrophic for bush.

This wasn't a set up. It was the bush administration's gross incompetence. They shouldn't be allowed to operate an ice-cream shop, much less run a country.
