Kerry Supreme Court possibilities.
My personal wish list:

#1 Eliot Spitzer - Attorney General of NY; not even 50 years old and has a history of white collar crime litigation. We could finally see Santa Clara overturned and the voice of politics given back to the people.

#2 Alan Page - Minnesota Supreme Court justice. Former NFL football player. Worked his way through law school, served with the NFLPA during the 1980's. Relatively young and would be the 3rd african american supreme court justice.

#3 David Boies - Chief counsel for Gore in Bush v. Gore. Considered a brilliant legal mind in many circles. Was instrumental in anti-trust cases involving Microsoft. He is 63 years old however.

10. Doesn't matter....
It would piss off the right. They would rail and rant against Bill and he might not get confirmed. Then, Kerry would put a good liberal nomination up there and they would have to confirm her/him because they shot all of their bullets at Bill.

It could happen.

24. Great point! Kerry should nominate Clinton every other time and those
ones will have to sail right through.

4. Clinton lost his license to practice law
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 12:22 PM by Danocrat
Wouldn't that disqualify him?

5. No, he did not lose his license.
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 12:27 PM by ET Awful
He was suspended from the Supreme Court only, he thereafter resigned from the bar to practice in the Supreme Court. His license to practice law is intact, and the Court can restore his ability to practice in the Supreme Court at any time.

You should research a little more carefully before you post false information.

8. Do judges need a license?
I thought they only need that if they represent a client.

6. Dennis Archer, former Detroit Mayor and former MI Supreme Ct Justice
Or, Kerry could choose him as AG.

Hillary could be a good choice, too, but I don't know if she could get by the Senate.

14. George Mitchell is NOT too old- I just heard him
speak. He is more lucid than most of the current S.C. Justices. He's in his sixties but his wife is in his 40s so he must have SOME life. (No, 40s is NOT old, said the 40-something year old lady).

15. I think he's in his 70's; furthermore...
the reason the conservatives have come to DOMINATE the federal courts is because they have pushed YOUNG judges through. Rehnquist, Thomas et al. Those guys have/will serve for DECADES. Would Mitchell? Hell no.

18. And Bill can go get her seat then.
Hillary on the Court for life would probably cause Freepers to commit suicide.

SC seats are too important - need to do what Repugs do, and nominate those mid/late 40's, 50's latest

19. Yep.
Spitzer is my fantasy. He's like 46. He might be hard to push through though. Kerry could use a tactic similar to Reagan with Scalia. Put up a nutter like Bork first, knowing he will get rejected, then sneak in Scalia.

27. Page would be a good choice -- forget about Clinton and Boies
Boies might be solicitor general. But he won't end up on the Supreme Court.
