Which States Do You Need To See Blue Before Going to Sleep?
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 12:48 PM by DrFunkenstein
I have a feeling that I am going to be exhausted Wednesday morning, unless Kerry takes Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida in a sweep. What do you need to see before you can fall asleep with a smile?

(Note: this is more metaphoric than anything. I'll be utterly euphoric on election night and will probably wake up hung over, but happy.)

4. Strategy
Looking at the battlegrounds, we need to take Ohio, PA, MI, plus one out of IA, FL, NM, AR. So, I will not rest until we are safe in IA or FL or cause one of the second tier battlegrounds to flip-flop to Kerry.

Or I'll be so wired I won't be able to sleep and I'll just watch him win more EVs!

NJ just to ease my fears that the whole 'NJ is in play' thing was a stupid ruse.

OH, PA, and FL because with those Kerry is sure to win.

Do you know if the Eastern precincts report earlier or is it just however long it takes them to count the dangling chads?

36. Normally, cities report in 1st - but I predict opposite this year
I think the polls in the cities are going to have to stay open late in order to accommodate everyone in line at 8pm, so I think the rural data may come in earlier or at the same time as urban data.

Also, the Repubes aren't going to challenge folks out in KKK country - if they want to gum up the works, they'll try it in the more heavily Dem areas.

Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 01:00 PM by rezmutt
Specifically, I've got to see Ohio and/or Florida go for JK -- either one of those two will be crucial. It will be tough without at least one of those states in the "win" column.

25. I think OH and PA are the most important
I really want to win Florida, but in all honesty, I'd like to know we could win it without it. Even if Kerry wins it, there are so many problems from electronic voting to Jeb Bush, that unless it is a landslide, I'd like to know Kerry could win without it!

considering sleeping through the whole thing. Instead of risking having to watch a slow motion train wreck, I may just go to sleep and get the news in the morning. That way it'll be one moment of supreme pain or joy, instead of several hours of possibily watching impending doom roll across the country.
