Here is the November Surprise
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6316493/

<snip>FALLUJAH, Iraq - U.S. Marines prepared on Friday to storm the Iraqi cities of Fallujah and Ramadi to crush Sunni Muslim insurgents and Arab fighters.

“We are gearing up for a major operation,” Brigadier General Denis Hajlik told reporters at a base near Fallujah. “If we do so, it will be decisive and we will whack them."

Fallujah residents deny any knowledge of al-Zarqawi and his network, and complain that U.S. raids mostly kill civilians.</snip>

5. What-the-fuck-ever.
Bush runs the military like it's a wing of his re-election campaign. His military leadership is criminally incompetent.

Hello!! We are fighting against a guerilla army. They aren't going to be there to meet the Marines, lined up in neat little rows, each wearing a badge saying "Hi, I'm an insurgent! Please shoot me!" In fact, they likely aren't going to be there at all, because one of them will have READ THE FREAKING U.S. NEWS and they now know to expect an attack.

So the Marines will show up in Fallujah and blow up some more buildings, but the only thing it will accomplish is killing a few Iraqi civillians and making more deadly enemies of the United States. Then they'll declare victory and withdraw, at which point the real insurgents will come out of hiding, none the worse for wear.

I have no military experience whatsoever and got my ass kicked all over the playground when I was a kid, and I could run a war better than this.

7. I fear the backlash against the US ...
... because I think the current misAdministration would have no qualms whatsoever about nuking the hell out of those poor people just because it has to 'take its frustration out' on someone.

Kudos to Kerry for even wanting to be President at this point, he's a much braver man than I'll ever be.

8. I think you're right. I think this is their last possible move.
I have no idea what the effect will be. Will it be seen as a clearly politically timed ploy, or as a sign that even during the campaign of his life George W. Bush doesn't hesitate to take the tough steps required of the Commander-in-Chief? Best thing is to start talking about it loudly and everywhere. Email journalists, papers, TV stations, radio stations, blog about it, etc.

9. Too Late For Surprises - Window is Closed
They can't bring out Zarqawi (or even Osama) only a few days before election. Americans are very cynical about that stuff, and will feel like Bush was toying with them.
