Does the governor choose Kery's replacement? Has anyone heard about a replacement?

4. I think the MA legislature... earlier this year...
Passed a law requiring a vacant Senate seat be filled within a certain period of time by a special election. Within 3 months, I believe.

So Romney would not be replacing Kerry.

At least that's what I heard the Legislature was going to do earlier this year.

But MA law has now been changed so that a special election would take place sometime next year.

But let's not put the cart before the horse here. :)

13. Yes, I know. But there would have to be a replacement
until a special election could be held. And Romney would make the appointment.

The new Senator from MA will be BARNEY FRANK!
He'll also be the first openly gay Senator. Take that, Shrub.

9. Special election
The Massachusetts legislature changed the law earlier this year.

Congressman Barney Franks has all but announced that he would run, if a special election were to be held.
