BUSH partisans sent over to DU to pump up Osama story
and discourage DU folks. Can't you see it? Turn these MOFOs in fast by alerting on their posts. It's not what we need today.

It is the ultimate weapon that could go either way...and Rove & company are really desperate by pulling this one out of their @sses a few days before election.

3. No kidding
You'd think that Kerry was crashing and burning and that Bush was about to take 49 states based on the reaction to this tape.

4. I'm confused.
How is Osama laughing about Bush's incompetence an endorsement of Kerry. Seems like an endorsement for Bush to me.

17. No, he said Bush was more incompetent.
Which would be an endorsement for Bush.

11. it's all about bringing out the "BOGEYMAN"
and focusing everyone back on that singularly horrific day of 9/11.
Bush is a one-trick pony. Everything he ever did include attempt to f*ck his wife after 9/11 has been justified by him using that attack.

14. of course they/we would but look at all the OH MY GOD, we're DEAD posts
it is ridiculous. and so many in such a short time by people with 100 to 200 posts is rather fishy.

31. good to be vigilant
but it's not outside the realm of possibility that some Kerry supporters might see the story a different way than other Kerry supporters

I believe it means nothing, except that the man who Bush promised to get "dead or alive" is on the loose and making videos thumbing his nose. It's a negative for Bush.

13. It's not the tape that worries me
But how the GOP is going to spin it. We cannot just live in our happy bubble laughing off the tape. We need to plan a response that puts Bush on the defensive, not us. They are going to do everything they can to turn this one on us and we need to be prepared. We cannot afford to be ignorant at this point.

19. well there I'm with you. I don't mean ignore it....but get ahold of
ourselves. Kerry rapid response already has some points formulated to share with the media...and I'm sure we will get Kerry reps on to talk about what's really important in this. WE ARE MUCH LESS SAFE NOW than before 9/11.

Explosives missing, p!ssed off Arabs, the evil Osama still alive and running free...

this is bad for Bush and will be spun that way.

25. Well, they haven't had a great deal of luck spinning the explosive
theft so far, though frankly I expected them to pull something convincing. I'm guessing they knew this was coming and thought they could turn it into a windfall, or that at least it would take the Al Qaqaa story off the front page for 24 hours.

As I noted in another thread, though -- I can't imagine the Kerry campaign didn't have some plan to deal with this. It was one of the three most likely scenarios put forth around here, right up there with dropping Cheney off the ticket and putting a moderate on it and a nuclear bomb or attack by Bush* on some other Middle Eastern country.

John Kerry didn't get to be the nominee by getting the right gumball out of a gumball machine. He's been touted by everybody who watched him run in Massachusetts as a great closer -- I'm going to hang on to my hat and see where he goes with it. I'm sufficiently confident he's not unprepared to address it.

23. Bush has been more concerned...
...with convincing the American people that Kerry "runs and hides" or whatever nonsense he spouts, and making sure they give no thought to that guy Bush promised to "smoke out". Bush is a FAILURE, and Ossama (thanks to the pressure created by Drudge, that feckless shithead) just released a video making fun of him for his incompetence. The cognitive dissonance on the part of the Republicans, in this matter and nearly every other, would, traditionally, be excuse enough to lock them up as pathologically delusional.

Need to push that off the front page for a day while they work on a new way to explain it.
