Kerry should make a statement directly to Osama: Your days are numbered
Perhaps going the route of using Osama's tape as an indictment of Bush's failures in the war on terror could be seen as too political.

Instead, do you think he should project an aura of inevitability by saying that his days are soon numbered because he will soon be in the White House?

It would reinforce his theme of making America stronger and running a smarter war while at the same time giving an opportunity for him to "talk tough"

I'm kinda thinking aloud so this may be half baked, but how about some input?

3. Email the Kerry campaign.
I already have a quote for the senator to use:

"You may have gotten a free ride for the past three years, but it all ends in January. You'll be a dead man walking when I take office."

Presidential, and at the same time a great non-oblique bash on the current Resident..

13. Sadly, no..
the regular email address at the Kerry website, perhaps?

But I'm sure that they're getting a ton of email already. And the Voice of Reason tells me that they've probably had a response for this scenario ready for months.

So maybe emailing them is useless.. I guess I'm flip-flopping.. :P

6. HE should NOT use any images of OBL ....
Ever ....

BUT: I think the idea of speaking to OBL in his speeches is smart ...

As a liberal AND patriotic american: I am all for arresting and trying OBL and his co-conspirators, or killing them if they cannot be taken alive ...

FUCK Osama bin Laden: that asshole killed over 3000 innocent people ... Any rational human being who believes in justice would want the perpetrators of the WTC massacre to be brought to justice ... Kerry would do well to not only speak of this, but to actually DO it ....

Unlike the present administration ....

7. I was just thinking the same thing.
"Mr. Bin Laden, we the American people don't need your advice on how to keep America secure. I know what it takes to keep America secure, and it begins with destroying both you and your terrorist organization. Mark my words, Mr. Bin Laden: We will hunt you down, and we will kill you."

8. Great idea
Don't mention Bush at all. Speak directly to Osama. It will give the people a taste of Kerry as president and they'll like what they see. Let the surrogates spin this as a failure by Bush but he needs to not even think about Bush anymore.

11. No, I think he shouldn't mention it at all
unless to point out that bush screwed up and took his eye off the ball. The reality is that we should at least consider what the terrorists want, what it is we do that causes their fury. Seeing them as just the incarnation of evil is nor helpful. And OBL is right: they don't hate us for our freedom. This is a totally lame Bush platitude. A more intelligent approach would be to change our foreign policy, not have permanent bases all over Arab lands, etc. Kerry can't get into this right now, though in my heart I think it is what he believes. If he talks about it now Bush will pounce. But he definitely should not address OBL in some stupid macho pose. Please. He shouldn't try and out-Bush Bush.

12. No, I don't like trite phrases.
"days are numbered" "hunt you down" "turn over every rock" blah blah. We've heard it all before. It sounds empty to me.

And be tough.

15. I like idea of Kerry leading with an aggressive statement.

I like idea of Kerry leading with a confident and aggressive statement targeting the terrorists.

Kerry must make it clear that he is tougher than Bush and that Kerry will annihilate Osama Bin Laden and wipe the Al Qaeda network off the face of the Earth.

We must demonstrate that Bush has failed in the war on terrorism.

Yet, we need to do it in a smart way - it is worth it for Kerry to consider starting with a direct statement that focuses on Kerry's plan to kill/capture the terrorists.

Shortly after, the focus (starting with other progressive voices) can be the logical extension of the conversation.
(That extension would be the fact that Bush has failed to protect America.)
