How should Kerry handle his response to the tape?
I think he should be more condemning towards bin Laden than use it to bash bush*...I think he should even say no terrorist has the right to criticize or ridicule Our President (a little kiss ass...), BUT he made good points that we would be wise to listen to...the fact that even bin Laden thinks bush* screwed up on 9/11, the fact that bush* lies (and his family) to suit their needs.

1. Holbrooke made a good point
that this shows how important it was for bush* to keep his 'eye on the ball' and now we see the result...

ok maybe he should use it to bush* bash. LOL

4. "We stand together"
"We have our differences, but we will find you, and we will kill you."
Let Bush's inaction stand on it's own and we take the high road.

11. Agree 100%
Kerry needs to appear calm and Presidential - any attempt to "bash Bush" with this will backfire, like the Wellstone funeral-turned-political-rally that cost Mondale the Senate seat.

16. Here it is!
"In response to this tape from Osama bin Laden, let me make it clear, crystal clear. As Americans, we are absolutely united in our determination to hunt down and destroy Osama bin Laden and the terrorists. They are barbarians. And I will stop at absolutely nothing to hunt down, capture or kill the terrorists wherever they are, whatever it takes. Period."

Well played.

about Bush's failure.

8. Forceful and presidential. Promise to catch him and never rest until he's
caught.

He shouldn't even start smashing Bush, just come out and be like a President and reassure the American people.

I hope that is what he does.

Rip his fucking heart out! Shame him for not keeping us safe. Kick his ass. On Edit: I'd wait for the bush* response. After all he's the president, it's his problem.

12. He should say something like . . .
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 04:51 PM by GreenPoet64
I have said from the beginning that the war on terror is about Bin Laden. Bin Laden is running and hiding, and today he was allowed to speak to the American people, humiliating our president, humiliating all of us, because we went after the wrong terrorist at the wrong time.

13. Kerry needs to say just a few things
Osama bin Laden is mocking the United States (he is).

Osama bin Laden is still a free man aparently with plenty of food, medical attention, and laundry facilities (he is).

George W Bush has had three years to catch Osama bin Laden and has utterly failed.

I can't see how this can work in Bush's favor.

I realize that the talking heads may be trying to stear it in Bush's favor in the first 30 minutes, but his statement isn't an endorsement of Bush or Kerry by any means, and with the right message from the DNC, Bush cannot recover from this.

14. This is important
You are right. Kerry should act presidential. He, in fact, is four days away from president elect, and should act that way.

He should address the American people as if there is no George Bush, Steal thunder from the President by acting like he's on the job already. I wouldn't mind if he talked about what he would do day 1 about the Al Queda and OBL problem.

I hope he talks to the big picture and doesn't stoop down to Bush level by blatantly using this for vote-getting and the RNC side will. He can gain from this or lose with this.

Friday....four days from election....on the heels of a terrible week for Bush. I bet the Kerry campaign saw something like this coming. I hope the response is spot on.
