He only said the intelligence community was investigating the tape and the American people were united on war on terrorism. Didn't take questions. Kerry said that he was sorry that * outsourced the capture of Osama in Tora Bora and he would have never done that.

You will hear this 24 hours a day until the election:
"John Kerry tried to exploit the bin Laden tape for his own political gain. He will say anything to get elected."
JFK gave Bush ammunition.

Quit whining about what the nitwit repugs are going to say about this, or that, or whatever.
Nobody, and I mean nobody is listening to the repugs whine about little Mary Cheney, or Laura Bush, or Tora Bora, except kool-aid drinking wingnut fuckwits.
Quit it.

he is exactly right to attack Bush and frame the debate. Otherwise you lose control of the news cycle. He has to get his side out, if he "takes the high road" the thugs will control the spin and frame the debate. Time is too short to worry about backlash. Botton line: Osama is still alive and Bush didn't get him. Repeat as necessary.

34. Too late for that to get traction |
|
with anyone but the true believers at this point. You can't cede the news cycle to the other side. The average non-committed voter sees a picture of Osama. Either you say nothing and let the thugs spin it against you or you immediately put your side out. So this weekend when average non-committed voter sees OBL he should be thinking: Osama is alive, Bush didn't get him. Osama is alive, Bush didn't get him. Osama is alive, Bush didn't get him. Osama is alive, Bush didn't get him. Osama is alive, Bush didn't get him. Osama is alive, Bush didn't get him. Osama is alive, Bush didn't get him.

he stays on message. Even though we have heard it many times those who are tuning in to the news may be hearing the "Bush let Osama get away in Tora Bora" for the first time. And the news people need to get that message too ... maybe if he says it enough they will!

please, I am quite puzzled how denigrating Kerry could even happen since BOOOOSH is pres and called the shots (well ok Chaingang did) over the past three years. Just how could Kerry be blamed? I can think of 25 ways til Tuesday that Booosh can be blamed, but I cannot come up with one that implicates Kerry.

It will help the Bush "Osama wants Kerry to win" meme--they can tie it to "Kerry will say anything to get elected."

But, Kerry has to be extra careful about this stuff.

32. Exactly. That's what he should have said. |
|
He sort of repeated the same lines he used on the stump and in the debates. We've heard that before. I know he's playing it safe, but Kerry squandered a major opportunity to be courageous and speak from the heart. Of course Bush didn't say anything all that great either, so I'd consider it a draw. No harm done, but no ground gained either.
