Because I don't think it's going to change many minds either way. It is successful in diverting attention away from the explosives story, but I do not see an advantage for Bush?? If anything, I would see it as a net negative. We simply have to stay focused from now until Tuesday and remind people that Osama has not been captured "dead or alive"..Kerry needs to reassure people that he will put more of an effort into capturing Osama than Bush had. It is important that he has not been captured. Mr Bush has nothing to brag about on htis matter. In fact, he should be ashamed.

we've been talking for months about the possible scenarios * will come up with to scare people. this isn't surprising in the least.

* didn't campaign; it was a sham. he never spoke to anyone who wasn't already for him, and he had to photoshop in many of those. we are the ones who need to 'stay the course' right now. don't freak out just because what we all expected is actually happening.

Kerry needs to play this carefully, to remind people that the reason OBL can still make these tapes is because we stopped chasing him in order to go screw things up in Iraq. There has to be a way for Kerry to make that case, even in the face of mindless media whoring for Bush.
