Welp, the little OBL tape doesn't seem to be working |
|
at least on the people I've talked to since this afternoon, which is quite a few.
Several didn't even know about it.
Of the ones who did, they really didn't seem to care much. EVERY SINGLE ONE said it doesn't change their vote.
Too late.
Also, while watching BBC World News, I know this will come as no shocker, but a spokesman for the Ohio Republican Party said the tape is good for bush.
Um, it's a THREAT against the people of the United States. How sick can you get? I'd want to distance myself as much as possible from that and NOT say it is good for my campaign. Talk about throwing up a little bit in my mouth.
By the way, NOW with Bill Moyers, on now, is tearing up the rationale for the war in Iraq.
I haven't heard one voice on TV question why OBL is even ALIVE to be able to make this tape. Maybe I missed it from being out, but I think the Kerry people might (if they haven't already) start hitting that.
I haven't read any other recent threads here, just wanted to check in with what I have heard so far from people. All in all: they seem to be paying amazingly little attention to it and I certainly don't see it changing anyone's vote.
bushies, such as freepers, are of course going to be quite morbid about it to the point of trying to advance it and publicize it more widely, but I think MOST Americans (besides frothing at the mouth bushies) would find that very distasteful.
Honestly, considering the fact that the main agenda of terrorists is to spread FEAR, I think the only responsible thing for the media and the bush administration to do is to NOT give this video any further attention. Unfortunately, spreading fear also seems to be a big part of the bush administration agenda. Ahem.
Kerry on, to victory.

not even the people I know who have voted for bush or are planning to.
Their reaction was the equivalent of a big shrug and a "I don't give a shit what Osama bin Laden thinks."
Think they know it just reminds everyone he was never caught????

4. Yep you are exactly right |
|
and the BBC lady got the repuke guy in Ohio to admit it is really about turnout now, not convincing people.
So if this was on purpose from rove, et al, it was too late.
Oh I meant to add, I didn't hear one person express fear that we would have an attack before or on election day and I didn't even ask about that. I just thought of it.
Too much little boy (bush) crying wolf has resulted, it seems, in a more callous attitude towards this stuff.

5. My experience has been the same. |
|
Most people I have talked to have been indifferent about the tape. Their attitudes have been that it is just another tape from the damn terrorists. They have lost track of all the tapes and don't care. They just want bin Laden captured or killed.
