The Repugs care about Big Corporate Patents (think Big Pharma), and Big Corporate Copyright laws but obviously don't give a damn about artist's copyrights. No, shock, I know.

JENNIFER VINEYARD
(September 20, 2000)

A cease-and-desist letter from Tom Petty proved to be a campaign heartbreaker for George W. Bush, as the Presidential hopeful was forced to back off his use of "I Won't Back Down." Though the letter was sent in February, its existence (and Bush's reaction) only surfaced recently.

After Petty's 1989 single "I Won't Back Down" was used at Bush campaign events, publisher Randall Wixen (of Wixen Music Publishing, Inc. and Gone Gator Music) wrote the letter at the behest of Petty. It states, "It has recently come to our attention that your presidential campaign has been using the above-referenced song in connection with your presidential bid. Please be advised that this use has not been approved . . . Any use made by you or your campaign creates, either intentionally or unintentionally, the impression that you and your campaign have been endorsed by Tom Petty, which is not true."

1. They believe they're above the law
Disenfranchising voters, intimidating voters, stealing ballots, probably stuffing ballot boxes or the equivalent, theft of copywrited material, etc. I'd say there's a damning amount of circumstantial evidence that chimpco believes, or hopes, it's immune from the laws the govern the rest of us.

They are self-destructing in a big way! And flailing. I like to think of this consistantly arrogant display of deceipt as the visible death-throes of an angry and obnoxious evil being that is followed by a third of the country who are orcs.

2. What about Stevie Wonder
Anyone remember the 2000 Republican Convention. Bush made his "big entrance" before the crowd to the tune "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours." That about made me sick. I don't know this for a fact but I would be EXTREMELY surprised to hear that the great Stevie Wonder endorsed this asshole.

4. I happened upon the article
When I was searching for the Rolling Stone item about the anarchist who had infiltrated the Repugnican campaign in Orlando. Can anyone give me the link?

Thanks.
