Tucker Carlson just predicted a Kerry Win
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 09:15 PM by sunnybrook
On his PBS show "Tucker Carlson; Unfiltered," Carlson said twice that he predicts that Kerry will win the election. He said that it was not his desire, of course, but that he wanted to be able to look back and have been right in his prediction. Anyone else catch this? Also, he had a guest on that talked about "Pre-Election Anxiety Disorder." I think I have this! I'm obsessing about it constantly.

6. "PEAD"?
Sorry if this is well-known on DU. Second time I've seen it, don't know what it means. Somebody? Thanks.

3. Tucker is a goofy little creep
but I hope he's right this time. And I, too, have Pre-Election Anxiety Disorder. I'm obsessed and worried and can't get anything done. I will be so damn glad when it's over.

5. Me too!!
I have been worthless lately. I need it to be over. I need a win though. If the American people are so stupid that they elect this moron again, then America is lost for generations.

8. He's juse hedging his bets.
If Kerry wins, he gets to say, "yeah, saw that one coming." If Shrub pulls it off, he gets to gloat because, hey, "four more years".

Jon Stewart was right - he's a dick.

10. Well when you are having dreams of
sitting in a big tub of pumpkin spice latte with Kerry and bush and you are kicking bush under the latte water and all three of you are talking about turtles and how beautiful they are, you have it bad.

I woke up from that dream and was skeered.

21. I had an election dream, too, but it was more straightforward.
I was running the electoral college map math in my head.

"Now, if we lose Wisconsin, we hafta win such and such ..."

Pathetic.

Given the slimeball he is I suspect this is in line with this advice not to vote... You see, makes us feel like it's a done deal, we don't need to go vote...

18. Could he have been playing the same game we did before the debates?
"Bush is the world's greatest debater."

"Bush is going to wipe the floor with Kerry."

"Bush will win the debates so bad, Kerry will endorse him."

Any chance that's what Tucker is doing here, trying a bit of the reverse jinx?

20. Nah!
Carlson has been pretty clear that he's no fan of Bush and that he wouldn't vote for him. He also made it clear that he wasn't rooting for Kerry to win, he just thinks it will happen.

I actually like Carlson on this show. Hate the identity he assumes on Crossfire. Much more thoughtful, much less confrontational on this show. He probably enjoys doing this much more.

I think Al Franken made a point of saying in his last book that Carlson was fairly reasonable to deal with, and gave him by far the most time.

19. PEADs; mentioned on Keith Olbermann last night....I was going to
post a thread about it--my anxiety has never been this high, I've never hated an administration before, I am so worried that the good guys will lose, I'm worried about "What next in terms of Rovian lies, tricks," etc, etc, etc....I have PEADs.

I cannot believe that Tucker predicted Kerry! That is great, if it was genuine.

26. Same here
...although I didn't have an overwhelming personal hatred of Nixon or Reagan (although Reagan was close).

But this one, wow...

Strangely enough, I'm not stressing. I have this odd sense of calm that we'll win and this horrible nightmare will end soon.

30. yes on Nixon (total slime) but I also hated Johnson for Vietnam
and loved Johnson for civil rights. I couldn't stand Bush 1 either. Reagan I felt was a total idiot who kept getting off impeachment charges because of his personality. So I have hated a lot of presidents. Bush 2 though is possibly the one I detest the most; I feel he has the possibility to destroy the country and much more, whereas the other presidents mentioned here didn't seem capable of it.Politics has gotten far uglier these last 10 years or so than I have ever seen it.

I never thought I'd live to see anything similar to another Nixon administration. Actually I haven't because this one is so far beyond that one.

24. Tucker Carlson
is a nerd and an idiot! Although I must say I am suffering from Pre-Election..... disorder too. No way will I invite anyone into my dirty house besides I'm too busy reading the great info on DU!
I shut down my computer to do some work around here then wonder if I am missing something so back to the computer. Although we receive Air America here there is nothing like DU. Thanks to all of you making me more aware these past few months. I'm one of those who wake at 4:00 or 5:00am and sometimes 3:00am, get up, put on the computer and make the coffee then read DU. I watch very little TV except if I read something big is coming down then maybe the TV at the same time.

29. And there you have it.
As a journalist, he does not want to end all his access to the future administration, or marginalize himself. In a sense, this is a form of ass-kissing to the new guys who will be occupying Pennsylvania Avenue.
