Could Someone Give a Summary of the OBL Tapes and Reactions.

Thank you. A lot of us do not know anything about this. I've searched all over DU and find a lot of "opinions" but want to know what this was all about and what the reactions of the campaigns were. What was his point---was it that if we respect them, we have no fear??? A summary of his points and the reactions to his points by key political figures would be very helpful tonight. Thank you of you who take the time to reply. Unfortunately, directions to other posts just never seem to get to the gist of this matter.

1. This, for me, was the most salient part

Bin Laden suggested Bush was slow to react to the Sept. 11 attacks, giving the hijackers more time than they expected. At the time of the attacks, the president was listening to schoolchildren in Florida reading a book.

"It never occurred to us that the commander-in-chief of the American armed forces would leave 50,000 of his citizens in the two towers to face these horrors alone," he said, referring to the number of people who worked at the World Trade Center.

"It appeared to him (Bush) that a little girl's talk about her goat and its butting was more important than the planes and their butting of the skyscrapers. That gave us three times the required time to carry out the operations, thank God," he said.

2. woman--thank you, that was the most info I got all night and that

is quite a mouthful. Soooo, as I laugh to myself, does this mean that instead of Osama blowing up something to "effect" out elections, he just did it by video tape??? Did he just show America what an ass their president was??? Good god, Bush, this has to be embarrassing............
