Kerry Leads in FL
Kerry squeaks ahead in Florida

By Jane Musgrave

Palm Beach Post Staff Writer

Saturday, October 30, 2004

For the first time this week, U.S. Sen. John Kerry on Friday pulled ahead of President Bush in Florida, according to a poll that has been tracking voter opinion in 10 key states.

Just three days before the election, The Palm Beach Post/Reuters/Zogby International poll showed that 47 percent of likely voters in the Sunshine State supported Kerry, while 45 percent of the 600 surveyed said they supported Bush....While Kerry took Florida and Minnesota from Bush, the president picked up Ohio, Colorado and Iowa. Pennsylvania, which had been deadlocked, shifted slightly toward Kerry.

The president continued to command strong support in New Mexico, where he had a 9 percent lead on Friday. He also is hanging tough in Nevada, where he was up by 7 percent.

Wisconsin, meanwhile, continued its move toward Kerry. Since Tuesday Kerry has widened the gap, and on Friday he held a 5 percent lead over Bush.

The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent.

2. Is that a large enough sample?

600 people for 10 states?? That's 60 people per state, seems too small. I don't think that you can trust opinion polls anyway. If anything they sway voters by their "me too" factor. So, if I'm right...yeeeehaaaa!

5. I think reports of movements like this are illusory
This is nonsense. They don't have a clue.

I have seen multiple poll reports that Iowa and Ohio are going for Kerry. While it is possible that Kerry may win Florida, I don't think it is possible to project that outcome.

The idea that outcomes are swinging day to day are ridiculous. We just don't know.

People are locked in at this point and there is no way to know how many will be unable or choose not to vote for reasons of personal convenience or logistical problems. Also, there are a lot of machinations taking place to manipulate the outcome.

6. I Think Kerry Should Declare Victory at 9PM eastern in Florida
Because the remaining Florida panhandle is on Central Time and those are mainly republican counties. By Declaring Victory re-pukes won't need to vote and just go home
