Eminem, Anti-Hero

......... by Davina Baum October 30, 2004
Alternet Printer Friendly Version
EMail Article to a Friend

There was merely a ripple in the cultural zeitgeist when Bruce Springsteen put aside his genial nonpartisan everyman stance and headlined the Vote for Change concerts, benefiting America Coming Together (ACT), and ultimately, John Kerry. No one blinked when Ani diFranco set off on her own tour, boldly titled Vote Dammit. Same with Moby, who has worn his politics on his sleeve from day one. And no eyebrows were raised when P. Diddy, in typical Diddy style, came out big and loud with his Vote or Die campaign ... which as usual seemed to be more about Diddy than anything else.

But Eminem ... the man who George Bush once called "the most dangerous threat to American children since polio" could be the true October surprise.

<I have this article, plus a lot more Mosh stuff listed on my "All-in-one Mosh page" here:

2. quote sounds questionable
Snopes agrees.

If it were Poppy, maybe I'd believe it, but this doesn't sound like something Jr. would say.

8. Maybe "W" thought they were talkin' 'bout "M&M's"
Remember, he almost choked to death on a pretzel? Well, maybe he had the same problem with those little candy-coated buggers. So, with his impeccable (impeachable?) logic, he concluded that they could be dangerous to the lil' ones too.

<I just thought I'd make a weak sleazy attempt (in the spirit of GW, Rove, etc.) to start a totally unsubstantiated unfair smear campaign rumor that he has no way of defending himself against (sound familiar?). I couldn't happen to a more deserving guy. ;+} >

3. Mosh is our anthem! Thank you Eminem, this song is the one.
I am burning 50 CDs of the new Eminem song which is not yet released. I am giving copies to young Kerry supportes like VoteMob, Young Voter Alliance and anyone sporting lots of Kerry stickers on their car asking them to play the song in high foot traffic/hang out type areas. Also asking inner city CD stores to play it. Mosh is our anthem!

50 CDS and cases only costs $21.

I found the mp3 at http://www.stimulate-ltd.com /

Used cdex to convert the mp3 to a wav file and I'm handing out copies.

To the people up top, on the side and the middle,
Come together, let's all bomb and swamp just a little
Just let it gradually build, from the front to the back
All you can see is a sea of people, some white and some black
Don't matter what color, all that matters is we gathered together
To celebrate for the same cause, no matter the weather
If it rains let it rain, yea the wetter the better
They ain't gonna stop us, they can't, we're stronger now more then ever,
They tell us no we say yea, they tell us stop we say go,
Rebel with a rebel yell, raise hell we gonna let em know
Stomp, push up, mush, fuck Bush, until they bring our troops home come on just . . .

Come along, follow me as I lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark, that we need to proceed
Carry on, give me hope, give me strength,
Come with me, and I won't stear you wrong
Put your faith and your trust as I guide us through the fog
Till the light, at the end, of the tunnel, we gonna fight,
We gonna charge, we gonna stomp, we gonna march through the swamp
We gonna mosh through the marsh, take us right through the doors, come on

Imagine it pouring, it's raining down on us,
Mosh pits outside the oval office
Someone's trying to tell us something, maybe this is God just saying
we're responsible for this monster, this coward, that we have empowered
This is Bin Laden, look at his head nodding,
How could we allow something like this, Without pumping our fist
Now this is our, final hour
Let me be the voice, and your strength, and your choice
Let me simplify the rhyme, just to amplify the noise
Try to amplify the times it, and multiply it by six
Teen million people are equal of this high pitch
Maybe we can reach Al Quaida through my speech
Let the President answer on high anarchy
Strap him with AK-47, let him go
Fight his own war, let him impress daddy that way
No more blood for oil, we got our own battles to fight on our soil
No more psychological warfare to trick us to think that we ain't loyal
If we don't serve our own country we're patronizing a hero
Look in his eyes, it's all lies, the stars and stripes
They've been swiped, washed out and wiped,
And Replaced with his own face, mosh now or die
If I get sniped tonight you'll know why, because I told you to fight

So come along, follow me as I lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark, that we need to proceed
Carry on, give me hope, give me strength,
Come with me, and I won't stear you wrong
Put your faith and your trust as I guide us through the fog
Till the light, at the end, of the tunnel, we gonna fight,
We gonna charge, we gonna stomp, we gonna march through the swamp
We gonna mosh through the marsh, take us right through the doors

And as we proceed, to mosh through this desert storm, in these closing statements, if they should argue, let us beg to differ, as we set aside our differences, and assemble our own army, to disarm this weapon of mass destruction that we call our president, for the present, and mosh for the future of our next generation, to speak and be heard, Mr. President, Mr. Senator

The way I figure it, if the kids put it on the home pc; AND paly the song over and over again, maybe we have a chance to de-program some of their freeper parents before election day.

4. You've come a long way, Shady
Only in America could a bony, obnoxious, in-your-face white boy with no real plan come to be the most dangerous man in America. Then of course, there's Eminem.

7. That's what they said about Elvis, too
If he's making the authorities mad, he's on the right path.

It has been interesting to see his evolution, from anger at everything to anger directed at a specific target and a plan of action to fight that target.

9. Eminem writes his own stuff, that puts him far above Elvis
not that I think Eminem is that great, but I'm glad he did the Mosh video, powerful stuff.

Elvis = Bush: all image and no substance

19. Oh, c'mon
Elvis had genuine talent on many levels. He sang, he played piano and guitar, he was involved in the production and arraingement of everything he did.

Bush has no talents whatsoever.

And Elvis created his own image. Bush's was handed to him, like everything else he has.

5. Eminem - the most dangerous threat to *s illegal hold on the WH
Edited on Sat Oct-30-04 09:37 AM by kayell
My daughter called last night after seeing Mosh on MTV. She's not a Eminem fan at all, but was wildly enthused about the video. Seriously motivating stuff. I loved it and normally can't stand Eminem, but that video will get and keep young voters motivated.

Another daughter story - two of her new coworkers are rabid * fans. She asked them if they are doing early voting, since she is off to vote today. Neither is registered. ROFL
