Hilarious Ed Gillespie lie about newspaper endorsements...
from http://www.doonesbury.com/

The Lie:

"Look, the Republican candidate will never win the contest for editorial board endorsements. The major dailies across the country tend to skew liberal."
-- RNC chairman Ed Gillespie, explaining Kerry's endorsement lead

The Truth:

"Since 1940...only two Democratic candidates -- Lyndon Johnson in 1964 and Bill Clinton in 1992 -- have ever won more endorsements than their Republican opponent."
-- Salon story

John Kerry is almost a lock to be the 3rd, btw. He's up 175 to 138 in total papers and 18.8 to 12.1 million in total circ.

:D

27. Ed Gillespie... now I remember...
... he's the dude at my local car wash who writes up the ticket and asks me what kind of air freshener I want.

This is a cool car wash. A lot of ex-aerospace engineers work there.

5. I wonder who the WSJ will endorse.
They lean right, but Bush has been an absolute failure on everything:

Dollar Value
Stock Prices
Jobs
Trade deficit
Taxes, though they might disagree
and plenty of other stuff.

7. Its not the message. Its the receiver
Gillespie knows whatever he says will be believed by the inbred ignorant poor white trash who occasionally lurk here. His lies will not change our minds and his lies will not alter how the dregs of America will vote. They will mindlessly march on and vote against their best interests, believing tax breaks for millionaires and no bid contracts for cheney's company are patriotic actions. They are also so fucking ingnorant they believe bush is a good christian and an honest man. It does suck being them but they don't know it.

8. And the papers that switched from rep to dem can be explained.....
because the media mergers have produced more liberal editorial boards in the past four years?

9. Is it a lie if you believe it to be true? You go, Ed. Just take that
gut feeling, don't check the facts, and say what you feel is the truth. Faith based politics. That's the way your boss does it.

Then again, you're smarter than he is. You lying POS.

14. Speaking of lies ("Stolen Honor")...
I just got up and turned on my TV and found that PAX TV, a second-rate cable network, was airing "Stolen Honor," the anti-Kerry filth that got Sinclair in hot water. Did anybody else see this?

21. I've only seen the dude a couple times on TV
but he always cackles in his interviews. That's his retort to truths spoken by a Democrat. An uncomfortable, ridiculing laugh because he doesn't know how else to respond to the truth. Deep inside he knows * is toast.

24. Yay!
It finally seems as though the media might be doing something smart. And
endorsing a candidate who does not lie is definetely smart. I only wish liberals could go out and magically make those uniformed white trash republicans that Bush is hurting them. (sigh)

25. Ed Gillespie is just following rule number 48 of the rove handbook:
48) Another way to minimize unflattering statistics is to normalize them, making it seem as if they have always been so, and therefore carry absolutely no weight.

PS: Who wants to chip in after the election to get Ed Gillespie a chin implant - a la Paula Jones style?

26. Gillespie and his ilk have convinced themselves that the media are liberal
to the point where they say anything without researching the facts.

The sad thing is that there are millions of Americans who parrot that line of thinking.

29. One of the things I find most funny is how they lie even...
...when it doesn't really matter. It's like they simply do it out of reflex, not knowing how to tell the truth anymore.
