Newsweek poll is GOOD news!
Edited on Sat Oct-30-04 11:02 AM by exliontamer
Here's why...

First, the bump reflected in the Newsweek poll is the same bump that Zogby reflected early/middle last week. Now Zogby is showing Kerry ahead. My prediction: the next Newsweek poll will reflect a (to them) inexplicable bump back toward Kerry. In short, I think Newsweek is lagging behind Zogby.

Second, in order for Kerry to win, we need turnout. Highly-publicized inaccurate polls like Newsweek that show a lead for Bush are exactly the sort of kick in the ass our legions of newly-registered voters need to get them to the polls.

Stop wringing your hands and remember the words of America's greatest warrior, Crazy Horse, as he rode off to beat Custer's ass...

"Warriors to the front! It is a good day to die!"

2. Newsweek and Gallup have been all over the place
some pollsters like Zogby and Rasmussen have shown a close race all along even when some of others were showing huge Bush leads. Polls I'm looking at Nationally are Washington Post tracking poll, Rasmussen and Zogby. State by State, ARG, Survery USA and Rassmussen.

Gallup and Newsweek are junk.

7. I was lurking in FR earlier in the morning
And they were gloating about some poll with some name I have not heard off all year, saying that Bush had a nation-wide lead of 18%

Not a state, or city, nationwide. HAHA

The morons were so happy with that. Geeze, they are truely dumb. I swear evolution stopped at the doorstep of every republican.

5. Why are we obsessing over polls again?
Did we learn nothing last week?

Polls don't mean shit. Here's a little oped from Jim Hightower to brighten your day. Ignore all polls. Focus on GOTV. Kerry landslide.

Oct. 29, 2004 | Hey, come on progressives, buck up! There's been too much doom and gloom -- especially among inside-the-Beltway progressives -- about Kerry's chances on Nov. 2. Maybe they inherited an extra dour gene, or maybe they're spending too much time listening to pollsters and pundits. Of course there's the occasional discouraging campaign news, but don't wallow in it, for there's also greatly encouraging news.

Yes, I know that some polls have shown Bush running even with Kerry or ahead -- but the pollsters are vastly undercounting anti-Bush votes.

Yes, I know that Kerry's charisma quotient ranks somewhere between that of Al Gore and Michael Dukakis -- but John's been perking up lately, showing a bit of populist passion and striking some solid blows.

9. My small-town yard sign poll, results just in...
Edited on Sat Oct-30-04 11:10 AM by Secmom4Kerry
I ran this morning, 3-mile loop around town, here in pink-tinged Colorado. Decided to count K/E signs vs. *.

29 yards - K/E
3 yards - *

The heck with Newsweek, I've got my own poll...

11. Here in small town Wisconsin--
Yard sign count:
Kerry/Edwards: 75
Bush/Cheney: 18
And this is in a small town--population 3000.
In the 2000 election, there were only 5 Gore signs in this same town.

13. If I could stand being around repugs, and could tolerate their policies
I would hang around repugs during elections. They just go about their business voting for their candidates and doing whatever they do to support them.

We Dems seem to seesaw between confidence and gloom. Just go out and do your bit for humanity, stop reacting to every bump in the road.
