Randi Rhodes (on rerun) just said "Air America is the CIA"
I have often wondered about the decision to name Air America after the defunct CIA airline from the 70s. Anyone else think AAR's launch was part of a CIA black op?

2. Yes, and people engaged in conspiracies like to tease us...
...by dropping enigmatic hints all over the place. It is like a rule that conspirators follow, otherwise, their conspiracy is no fair.

4. Air America is amazing
It's a national voice for the left. And it seemingly appeared out of no where. I was floored when it launched here in Atlanta a month or so ago. Someone is making decisions about growing Air America's market share, and he or she is doing a good job of it.

6. They had several names before Air America's launch.
It was first called AnShell and then it was Central Air Media and now it took on the name "Air America".

Why it kept changing names I do not know.

I don't think they would be CIA considering it would be considered a "domestic operation". It would likely be a Cointelpro sort of situation but that's highly unlikely. Air America seems pretty legit to me.

13. AnShell Is A Seperate Company
They were the ones who helped the network get set up and has other ventures. AnShell are the Drobnys...big Democratic supporters.

Air America is a take off on the CIA "airline" that operated in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. It was used to airlift arms and supplies to the Myong Hill people in Laos & the Montenards in Vietnam. The way these secret missions got past Congress was under an expense for "Air America".

7. Bwa, Hahaha. Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...
Oh, you're serious?

Um, sorry, I don't wear tinfoil, it reacts with the blonde dye.

Of course it's a takeoff on the name, but please, would the CIA hire Chuck D? Or Jim Hightower?

16. Well they wanted to hire Eazy E instead of Chuck D, but he's dead.
And that's because Eazy wrote the line Hail to the niggaz from the CIA in NWA's "8 Ball"

8. Randy pisses me off as often as I agree with her!
Why does she have to be such a egotistical bitch? I agree with the caller that she should not completely and constantly demonizing and calling anyone who doesnt agree with her 100% "an idiot".

I think she has personal problems... just so incredibly bitter she only knows how to attack.

17. Yes, I enjoy her shows most of the time....BUT
The women cannot take any criticism well and I feel like she's either in a good mood or a bad one... and that totally affects the show.

I listen until she pisses me off and then its time for Democracy Now!

14. She is a Limbaugh of the left
which is not necessarily bad. But she's much more of a Limbaugh-like figure than Michael Moore is, and I've seen many here at DU say that Michael Moore is not necessarily good for our side. It can be confusing.

18. Oh yes, we need her... she's fine... I hope she gets happier.
She's a solid Democrat.. unlike Moore and Chomsky etc....

I just want her to be more polite to other liberals with nuanced and slightly different views.
