Will Bin Laden Tape effect the market in the next few days.
Edited on Sat Oct-30-04 12:58 PM by Nicholas_J
The market tends to react skittishly to any such media event. Will the market see this as a warning of more turmoil in the Middle East, or even in the U.S. . Was the threat level not raised in order to avoid the news effecting the market just before the election?

Some analysts are stating that this tape will cause themarket to be effected soon.

Bin Laden tape clouds U.S. market outlook

By Megan Davies

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A video appearance by al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, in which he said the United States may face renewed attacks, cast a shadow over the outlook for the U.S. stock market, analysts say.

Bin Laden, in a video shown on al Jazeera TV, just four days before the U.S. presidential election, said the United States could face more attacks because the reasons for mounting the strikes of September 11, 2001, still existed.

The news broke after the U.S. stock market closed on Friday.

The bin Laden video appearance -- his first in more than a year -- makes the outlook murkier for stocks, when Wall Street begins trading on Monday.

Since the markets had just closed when the tapte was released, effects will not be known until monday.
