so the repubs will get the vote out for him. If they go with their usual "shrub ahead in a landslide" some repubs will not bother to go to the polls. I think it's all strategy by them. Strategy that won't work, I might add.

Well, if FAUX says he is losing, I may as well just stay home, then.
The average FAUX viewer is an idiot. They don't get the subtleties of reverse psychology. Let's hope FAUX makes the crucial error of not elucidating the points they want to make!

I think the OBL helps...it reminds them that he is STILL after 3 years, out there...watching and paying close attention...because...BUSH didn't get him

But, how does the OBL tape actually cause last nite to be a good nite for JK? At best, I thought it would be a draw for JK, and wouldn't actually help him nor hurt him at best. I was watching the french news and they were all saying that this actually would help ** more than kerry. The French news aren't like faux news or the media over here and are very objective. I am just amazed by that pollster's statement. Could anyone explain that to me?

I don't think the pollster said that...
Folks here are inferring that....
It will take a couple of days to play out...
Convention wisdom is often but not always right...
An alternate explanation is Americans don't like a president who can be punked by a terrorist..

But he punked Bush..... If Bush would have done his job and killed him he wouldn't have been there to punk him...
This point is overlooked...
Whether or not OBL has the ability to conduct terrorist acts his mere presence emboldens terrorists everywhere...

That makes sense.....
I think just looking at the time line of when the poll was conducted and when the tape was released it would be hard to make that inference....
I think less than 30% of adults watch the news because NBC, CBS, and ABC are all pulling seven, eight, or nine shsres...

The peak of the Osama news was Friday. Today and Sunday are football and relaxation days. The news will talk about it a little, but very few will be listening.

We aren't talking "UNPROVOKED" here anymore. Weewee's actions have made a bad situation worse, and people are waking up to that. That fact NULLIFIES any gain he might otherwise have gotten.

A large portion of the U.S. population isn't terribly rational, and they find things like nuance and explanations inconvenient and troublesome, like a trip to the dentist or a training conference for their jobs. Therefore, when they see the face of the guy Bush* said he'd track down and kill, and the guy's still alive, looks healthy, and is making fun of Bush*, they are likely to have the following reactions:
"Oh, my God -- that raghead! Kill! Obliterate that raghead."
"Wait. Bush* said he was going to track that guy down and kill him. What's that guy still doing on my TV?"
If French journalists are imputing any ability for rationality or logic to large swaths of the American viewing public, they make a mistake. There are plenty of us here who do know how to think, and we're more able to look at facts, discriminate them from propaganda, and we're often satisfied with amibiguity.
We're already voting for Kerry.

They were asking this one french correspondent in DC about whether this will play to ** or kerry's plan. The guy was hesitant at first, but when pressed by the news anchor for an answer, he said that that it would be to **'s advantage, because fear is always a strong reaction.
I watch the french (or should I say freedom) news all the time, because I lived there before and because it is the only way to get unfiltered news. (yes, I resented **'s comment about France)

My (not very bright) coworker, the GOP fundy, got this message:
Well, if OBL is still out there trying to get us, we need to keep * in office because Kerry's not going to get him."
It wasn't until AFTER I pointed out that the fact that OBL is still out there means that * HASN'T caught him, with the combined might of all US intelligence, military, and law enforecment strength at his disposal. I then pointed out that this means that maybe * isn't so good at catching OBL after all...
Nevertheless, it wasn't until I hit him with the "WHY is OBL still loose" meme, that he even considered this a good thing for Kerry.
