Bush team calls OBL tape "a little gift"
Edited on Sat Oct-30-04 04:56 PM by DrBB
Has this been up already? They should be MURDERED with this quote:

A senior GOP strategist added, "anything that makes people nervous about their personal safety helps Bush."

He called it "a little gift," saying it helps the President but doesn't guarantee his reelection.

11. They are SO going to get burned with a major blowback here.
This shit needs to be circulated far and wide. Those scumbag, the ones who whined about Kerry not taking a 12 hour truce, are gloating over the OBL tape. They MUST get burned, not only for dropping the OBL ball in the first place, and taking their eye off the target, but for trying to capitalize on public fear. We've always know it. But now they've been exposed.

18. Sending it to ABC, CBS, NBC morning shows--YOU TOO
Hope I'm not the only one. Key thing: they may be aware of it, but they need to know it's resonating out here and not in a GOOD way. It's not just a matter of their knowing about it, even if they do. It will get coverage if we let 'em know we're outraged by it.

Yup, that's how the wingers do it.

Here's what I wrote--write your own frame for the quote if you can, but I advise keeping it pithy, outraged, but not nasty or bitter. "Ordinary citizen nauseated by bad Bush politics" is the tone I'd go for.

Please take note of the following, if you haven't already:

From the NY Daily News (not a lefty rag by any means):

A senior GOP strategist added, "anything that makes people nervous about their personal safety helps Bush."

He called it "a little gift," saying it helps the President but doesn't guarantee his reelection

http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/247753p-212149c.html

Anyone who doesn't find that to be about the most repulsive, utterly cynical sentiment they've ever encountered--in an awfully bad year for such--has something seriously wrong with their moral barometer. Hope this quote is featured in your discussions tomorrow. If a senior Kerry staffer had said it, we'd never hear the end of it.

44. Well, you already know what will happen if TeamBush is confronted:
1). Avoid discussing the issue at all for at least two days

2). Emerge from spider-hole to face the media, dismiss it as a "gross exaggeration" initiated by Senator Kerry.

It's the Rove-Hughes style. As Bill Clinton said on the Daily Show, "they do it because they can get away with it, and because it works. When it stops working or they can't get away with it, they'll do something else."

47. The gift that keeps on giving...
Thought unfortunately for Bush, it won't reap benefits for him.

And that's DESPITE what any of the pollsters and warped media mucks say in the next couple of days.

Screw Newsweek and their mad rush to print an edition with a front page claiming "Bush is surging" or whatever the hell it is they're doing.

I sat next to a butt load of ugly Rethugs at a standing-room only sold out hockey game last night. And during the intermission, they were all saying how screwed their hero was because this thing came out when it did.

When Chris Matthews blabs out that it has to be "all good" for Bush because it reminds people of 911, WHAT IN THE HELL IS HE THINKING !?!?!?

Maybe I'm wrong and some Americans have truly gone mad. But the jerks I had the misfortune to sit next to last night with their NRA caps and their Bush/Cheney '04 pins on their coats, are worried sick that this happened.

They insist that "they're screwed". If Rethugs themselves think this way, how is it that people like Matthews see it so completely differently????

52. Walter Cronkite did an interview
with Larry King and Mr. Cronkite said he believes Karl Rove is behind the Bin Laden tape. You may read it on the Drudge Report. Naturally Larry King didn't ask Mr. Cronkite to elaborate. King is such a big fan of the Bush family. I don't understand how the Repuklicans can think of this as a gift. Aside from the shamelessness of the statement, every time Bin Laden shows up on video, it only serves to remind the American people that he's still enjoying a life of freedom, thanks to our retarded Commander in Chief.

that OBL was doing W a favor for taking the heat off. So Bush's strategists are calling it a little gift. I think there is more truth in that than the average person hearing or reading that may think. Was it a deliberate "leg up" or just something that BushCo find working to their advantage with no deliberation on OBL's part?

65. reminiscent of...
"Why, of course, the people don't want war," Goering
shrugged. "Why would some poor slob on a farm want to
risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it
is to come back to his farm in one piece. Naturally, the
common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England
nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is
understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country
who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to
drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist
dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist
dictatorship."
