The best way to determine that the bin Laden tape has failed is to look at the headlines on the RW news sources like Fox and notice that there is no mention of bin Laden at all! All they talk about is the terror level, and not bin Laden!

4. Rove was NOT behind the OBL tape. Look at the facts:

I believe Rove was behind the first tape that the network was holding. I believe he meant for it to be released on Thursday, and to be the talk of the weekend spin. Instead, OBL trumped Bush and Co. by releasing his tape. I believe OBL means it when he says neither Bush nor Kerry can keep us safe. He isn't interested in much but threats. I think OBL trumped Rove's October Surprise, and it would tickle me to death if it weren't that SOB OBL that pulled it off.

9. Bush's face said it all

He couldn't wait to get away. I thought he was going to jump on the 5AM flight to Nebraska then and there.

No, they do not want to mention Osama's name at all. This has been a constant since they bungled taking him out. More comically, they succeeded in getting all their loyal parrot machine to do the same.

The huge issue of whether OBL was even alive has been fudged and a criminal embarrassment for the slow-witted news media which stupidly began showing unfeigned surprise that the guy indeed was more than a stock in trade bogeyman.

Not surprised that silence descends. The war on terrorism is not supposed to be real outside the GOP parameters.

Might I add, OBL's mental fingerprints are everywhere evident in this speech. He seems more self-absorbed than ever in trying to define the Islamic jihad, slightly out of touch with events elsewhere. Somehow I think it is a giveaway what a nightmare experience under bombardment the survivors went through at Tora Bora. He can't say enough about it, except exactly what he was doing which I presume was mostly hanging on.

Most importantly, it is Rove's blunders which give me the most relief. After having been in Europe where no one understands our political system or elections(do we?) it must be a hopeless puzzle for the Arabs. That may have saved lives temporarily. The Aznar thing was in fact a self-meltdown caught in the nick of time. It is impossible to define the terrorist role as dependable catalyst, but Bin Laden seems to recognize the barrier of our "media machine" here.

This "evil mastermind" mystique is overblown. He is no more a grand architect or visionary than George W., but boy, our faux Prez makes almost anyone look impressive by comparison!

5. Desperation isn't pretty, the Bush camp looks like a bunch of desperate

fools. With the facts that his polls go up a couple of points regarding terror alerts and then a tape comes out at the same time Stockpiles of weapons are missing, 8 Marines die, I just don't think people are going to jump on the sinking ship. America wants change, we'll have it in 3 more days! He'll go down ugly, but he WILL go down.
