Did Kerry Knock and Drops today for 4 hours
here in Milwaukee area. Targeted address list. Knock on door. Remind them to vote Kerry. Hand out Literature. Give away tickets to the Rally here in Milwaukee on Monday. Tell them where their polling place is. Many more Kerry signs than bush* signs, which surprised me since we were in a suburb (Wauwatosa).

2 of us from here. 2 Volunteers from Chicago (Thanks you 2!).

It was exhausting, but fantastic, even if we hit a few bush* houses that were on the list by mistake.

Might do some "Visibility" tomorrow and some phone banking on Monday.

GOTV!

1. Did three hours
Edited on Sat Oct-30-04 05:54 PM by gtrump
...in a VERY hilly neighborhood in Asheville, NC. We were exhausted, but very happy at our success. So many people - many Af-Am - said they'd already voted or were going to vote and they're straight ticket Democrats. It was inspiring.

Then I got home and took a nap.

See you all on the streets tomorrow, Democrats!

10. One of the girls with us got a lecture about baby-killing
from an older lady. Before she could get on a roll, the volunteer thanked her for her time and walked off.

I had one bush supporter ask me about the Kerry rally and said he ws thnking of taking his nephews out there just to show them the process of a campaign.

I told him it's a good place to see what democracy looks like.

We're counting on you big-time.

11. Yes, they got all they asked for.
Mayor Barrett and the Repub County Supervisor made a compromise to track the amount of ballots and return the remainder.

7. My partner was out doing knock & drops in Milwaukee too!
She said it was very encouraging and that most of the people she talked to were convinced the OBL tape was a Rove fake.

She's going back tonight for a few hours...I miss her, but I'm really glad she's out there. If you meet her, be nice to her!

C ya,

The Plaid Adder

15. Today 5 hours x 2 people = 10 hours with good results
Here in the suburbs of Pittsburgh (Butler County), a very Republican area, the results were fantastic. Probably, Kerry 90% Bush 10% on a list of potential Kerry supporters (voted at least once Dem in the past or don't vote regularly). We polled trailer parks and $250,000 homes with nearly the same results.

Went with my 13 year old son and we ran into a bunch of freeper men dropping of Bush literature in one neighborhood (upper middle class). They flashed us a three finger sign (W) and I said "Oh, right, three more days!" They kinda nervously laughed then realized what I meant and quickly scampered off. Another pair of freepers asked me how it was going and I said "Great, more Kerry votes in this area than I imagined". Frankly, they looked a little dejected and weren't having any fun at all. To defuse the situation I asked them if they had found any Nader supporters - they said there weren't any - we agreed on that point.

BTW, canvassing is a blast once you get out there and get into a groove.

17. Wauwatosa? REALLY?
Good golly, that's GREAT news!

BTW, I have a cousin who works at the post office in Waukesha. He said that even though the area is heavily repuke, nearly ALL the workers at the P.O. are Kerry - and very, very motivated!

Congrats on some really great work today!
