Good omen in the McDonalds today.
A feeling of uneasiness has come over me these days. The more I hear about the voting fraud the more I feel like we will win and they will steal it again. Sitting in the McDonalds with my kids after the soccer game (yes I know, soccer mom) I started to try and remember how I felt just before Iowa. Did I feel like it was the end or did I feel good. For that matter I tried to remember how I felt just before the 2000 election. I watched the returns on the jumbotron during a hockey game and remember how I really thought it was ours. But this time there is a definite feeling of unease. Like I don't know if things are about to get so much better or so much worse.

Then I noticed that that there was music playing softly in the background. It was the Eagles, "Peaceful Easy Feeling". There was a time in my life when I escaped my life and renewed in Minnesota. The Eagles got me through. They calmed me. So I felt like the song was an omen telling me to let go and be at peace with all that we have done in this campaign. I felt like it was telling me give in and have faith. I'll try

1. here's my omen
Yesterday I was driving through a heavily repuke town here in NJ. This town is so republican I even hate to go to it. I was absolutely astonished at the Kerry signs. They were everywhere.

I have an idea what happened and it is based on conversations I overheard in cafes and restaurants in that town. These republicans are the financial conservatives. They don't buy into the Christian fundie stuff at all and they are appalled at what bush has done with the budget. They see bush not as strong and resolute but stupid in not being to say he's made a mistake and change his course.

BTW, I absolutely believe in omens like what you write about above. I would interpret that similarly.

3. The Eagles remind me of skiing the colorado river and camping in
the driest heat I have ever been in at 110 degrees at night. Of driving in an old truck on dirt roads. I reminds me of having bears around the camp fire with friends and singing to a guitar. It reminds me of driving in Minnesota on that highway that lead to the farm house.
