"The poll, conducted Tuesday through Friday, also found that the state's electorate is in a highly volatile condition, and several other polls have painted a somewhat confusing picture of the hard-fought race in Minnesota.
For example, a St. Paul Pioneer Press/MPR poll of likely Minnesota voters released Saturday showed the race essentially tied, with Bush at 48 percent and Kerry at 47 percent. But a Zogby tracking poll also released Saturday showed Kerry with 49 percent to Bush's 43 percent in the state."
Lets win this first... one poll does not a victory make!

8. A friendly tip from another relative newbie |
|
Many people here are suspicious of new posters. We get a lot of Free Republic trolls trying to dishearten us, for some stupid reason. Posting negative info early on triggers a lot of red flags with a lot of people. I'm not telling you what to do. I'm just letting you know that there are some who take it as a sign that you're not on the level.
Welcome to DU. Don't let the paranoia get to you.

Don't they have better things to do - like continuing the destruction of the environment, religion, the country and on and on.
And hello from a fellow newbie!!!!!!! ;)

10. Point Taken And Agreed...Welcome To DU! |
|
Sorry about the skittishness around here...the adreneline is squirting in this place.
I agree about being wary of the polls, but I consider the source and always look at the local newspaper/TV polls with a lot more credibility than the national ones.
The big thing I keep seeing in poll after poll is how flatlined the manchild's numbers are...they can't crack 47 in the most optimistic polls now and we're starting to see more 42s and 43s showing up.
Add to this the "Rovian equation" that the polls skew in favor of his boy by at least 4% and we're looking at some impressive numbers starting to build.
I'm not popping champagne corks yet, but I'm liking what I'm seeing a lot better now than at this point in 2000.
Agian, welcome to DU and don't mind the craziness here, it's a lot of energy coming to a nice crecendo.
Cheers from Chicago!

And I didn;t post negative info... I quoted part of the article somebody else posted and made a valid point. Do not get overconfident. We tell all of our members to campaign as if you are ten points down, not up... not even... always as if behind because the underdog takes advantage of every opportunity and does not get complacent and let chances slip by to sal the deal.
I'll be working as a poll inspector from 5:00 am until 11:00 pm or so... or however long it takes to wrap up. I'm guessing 17-18 hours of straight work on election day to make sure that republicans don;t harass minority voters is a pretty substantive contribution! Thank you very much.

I didn't think what you posted was negative in the least. I know many, like yourself, who can't allow their cynicism to let their guard down, and that's fully understandable. I joke that right now the Repugnicans are in a state of delusional denial that many can't see for being so out there, while the Democrats can't believe things are going as well as they are. When the dust settles on Wednesday, I feel 85% sure we'll have a lot more positive results than negative...or at least I'm going to enjoy the next 2 1/2 days feeling that way then deal with reality.
I covered many an election night from being a poll watcher to covering the Cook County Board of Elections (staying around til 4 or 5am to get the final totals)...and making sure there wasn't too much hanky-panky going on.
Hopefully New York should wrap up quickly...then take a couple days off and find a real life again.
Cheers!

and MPR is, sad to say, quite Repuke. I wouldn't trust that poll - it's most likely weighted toward Repukes.
