McCain is a sad little rat
Imagine coming back from being a Vietnam P.O.W. and then spending the sunset of your political life being the errand boy to a bunch of chickenhawks.

And then you allow the chickenhawks to viciously attack your daughter, but you won't fight back because it may soil your career wity the GOP... a party that mocks and spits and laughs at you.

I don't care how rich and famous and powerful McCain is, I feel sorry for him. What an impossibly sad existence. Worse than Colin Powell.

15. Stockholm Syndrome?
Maybe he identifies with the aggressors as a way of coping with his years of helplessness in captivity. He needs therapy.

2. You have got to be kidding
McCain would sell everyone of your family down the river for the sake of the republican party. He'd sell everyone of his own family down the river too. Why? Who knows. How? Who cares. When? Everyday that he supports this president.

4. Add Another
You should also add Colin Powell to the sad little rat tittle. He said he had no respect for and wouldn't work for someone who pulled strings to get in The National Guard to avoid going to Vietnam.

showing Vietcong attacking him and the faces morph to Cheney and Bush! Good stuff.

7. You're watching a man sell his soul piece by piece
McCain had this crazy idea that he'd run for president in 2008, and to win the approval of the party regulars, he was going to line up behind President Stupidhead for the 2004 campaign. Like a drunkard being enticed by his old drinking buddies, who tell him one little beer or one little shot won't hurt him, McCain bartered a piece of his soul when he decided to endorse Bush. He could get it back in November, right?

But one piece, then another piece, then another piece were required. The original barter became a loan, the loan became a gift, the gift became an obligation. Stupidhead's inept campaign kept sucking more and more of McCain's soul, until he had to allow himself to be photographed hugging Chimpy, standing with him on platforms sharing upraised hands, and generally selling whatever autonomy he had to be his own man and his own candidate in service to Chimpy's bumbling. You don't see Jeb humiliating himself the way McCain does.

John McCain is finished as a national candidate.

8. "Sad" does't begin to say it
Prior to * getting the GOP nod (fix?) in the 2000 cycle, McCain was an odds on favorite to crush Gore. He was, in the words of James Cagney, on top of the world. Now he's following used TP down the porcelain whirlpool.

Powell was also a king after he retired. Both sides courted him as a possible presidential candidate. Now he's a discredited liar.

Both men aligned themselves with what they thought was the old republican party of the likes of Goldwater and William F. Buckley (You may not have agreed with those guys but at least they were intelectually honest.) What they got was a shitload of draft dodging, cheating, manipulative, brown shirted thugs.

They deserve what they get. Sleep with the devil and you pay the price. I cannot see either of them coming back. To the knowing American public, they're toast. To the brown shirts, they're just used pawns.

Yeah, "sad" is not a strong enough word for them.
