I know why the turnout is so high for early voting.
...and why it seems to be mostly Democrats.

If my state had early voting I would have waited as long as it took to vote on Day One. Why? Because I CANNOT WAIT TO VOTE AGAINST THAT BASTARD!!!

This is my only form of revenge for the four years of hell he has brought upon the world, the country, and my very own self, and I long to savor it. I wish it were Tuesday already.

Gimme the ballot! I'm ready! Do I get to vote against him now? How about...now?

:argh:

2. I think this election is going to be unprecedented
I think we all owe Bush and the neo-cons a debt of gratitude. They have revived liberalism in this country. They have rescued it. Our insecurities have fed them rope. This election is all about a crowd gathering to watch the hanging.

Clint Eastwood can't really shoot that good. That was just a movie.

4. When do the polls open in NYC?
Edited on Sun Oct-31-04 01:12 AM by aquart
I want to be there. And I suspect if I get there on time, I'd better bring coffee and a book.

5. democrats also don't trust the voting systems
i would speculate that many early voters are fearful that they may have problems voting and the longer they wait, the less likely it will be that they will be able to vote at all ...

as the old saying goes, vote early and often ...

6. The early voting record was "smashed" so says my hometown paper
There was a 400% increase over the year 2000's early voting in my county.

------------------

400% Durham County (NC) jump

With more than 46,000 One Stop, No Excuses voters, Durham County shattered the mark of 10,600 people who voted early in the 2000 presidential election, Durham County Board of Elections Director Mike Ashe said.

"That is roughly a 400-percent increase," Ashe said. "My thoughts are, 'Isn't this wonderful.' I still think we're going to have long lines and a huge, huge turnout on Tuesday."

7. You may be right
But for me, I have been savoring the moment, letting the anticipation build. I have taken 2 Nov off so that I can stand in line and shove my ballot up that freak's bung hole.

8. As I told one of the Election Commissioners (who had been trying
to convince people not to wait 2-3 hours because their normal precincts would not be so crowded on Tuesday), I have waite3d 4 long years-- every minute, every second for this opportunity and two hours is absolutely NOTHING! I'd have waited there 8 hours if I had to. I want my life back and it's not going to happen until we get our country back!

9. Absolutely! If every vote gets counted, we win.
We've waited too long and witnessed too many outrages. Even if they throw out entire counties' ballots, we'll still win enough states to take back this country.

Stifling dissent is the recipe for a revolution.

14. I voted early
I voted absentee, hopefully if enough people do it , the lines won't be so long on election day. It could be raining hard here.

1. Sent in the absentee five minutes after I recieved it in the mail...
Curiously, the local dem party sent me a sample ballot four days after I had already mailed the sucker in....

I hope they haven't been this slack across the whole county....

18. As of Friday, about 200,000 more Oregonians have voted
than at the same point in the 2000 election.

http://www.sos.state.or.us/elections/nov22004/g04_balret.xls

I'll admit that this info for Oregon is not as interesting as the early voting turnout in places like Florida, Iowa, North Carolina (go blue!), but it heartens me that we have the registration advantage on the Republicans, that we have a strong and growing "Republicans Against Bush" movement in Oregon, that the state's largest newspaper has repented its 2000 endorsement, that the Dem ground-war has been highly visible and something to behold since last Spring, and that this is exactly the type of stuff I hear from all over the country.

19. Absolutely! People at my polling location waited TWO SOLID HOURS,
people don't do that when they are happy with the status quo.

I was fortunate to have my VBM ballot, so I didn't have to wait, but I asked a couple of people if it's worth it to wait.

They said "YES." Now convince me they were voting for Commander Bunnypants.
