1. I think we'll pick up a few seats in the House
But, not enough for a majority. The Texas redistricting really hurts, I think.

My home state has 2 potential pickups in Diane Farrell challenging long-time incumbent Chris Shays in a district with a lot of old money Republicans that are socially moderate. Also, in the 2nd district, challenger Jim Sullivan is within 3 points in all polls against former CIA operative Rob Simmons, despite Simmons outspending Sullivan 4 or 5 to 1 and Simmons running a very negative campaign.

I had good hopes for the Senate a few weeks ago, but have seen some poor polling for Democrats in Florida, NC & Colorado in the past week that makes me second guess my earlier hope.

2. the HOUSE is gone
But the Senate is promosing, i say that cautiously, the problem is that the close races are all in that BUSH won (what are the odd of that), OK, AK, SC, NC, KY, SD, LA, FL, CO. Thats a built in handicap for us. That being said though. Knowles in AK, and Salazar in CO have very good chances of winning to pick up seats for us. Obama and Isackson will cancel each other out in ILL and GA. The DEMS in each state are running good races, its just some are in states that BUSH will probably win by 20. Even Daschle in SD is tied with Thune. It sucks, It points to not having the majority, but a good GOTV drive, im convinced will put us over in some of the states (OK, NC and FL). In SC its going to be damn tough. And in SD there just arent enough voters to really be affected by a strong GOTV so Daschle will have to win it on his own. If we can keep VItter below 50% in LA, we have a better than even chance of keeping that seat in December for the run off. And in Kentucky we could get incredibly lucky. Bunning was cruising to a win in a big Bush state and went wacky, Bunning only won by a few thousand last time, so if voters go in and make up their mind Bunning is a wack job, it could be our lucky night
