is that the international media seems to feel more strongly than the American media in general that the Bin Laden tape will give Bush a boost. From what I've watched, some American media pundits either urge the voters not to let bin Laden influence their choices or suggest that the effects could harm Bush as well as help him.
Example:
ABC's Ted Koppel (with Richard Clarke and Mideast expert professor) on Fri night Nightline...no suggestion of a boost for Bush and Koppel telling Americans not to let their votes be influenced by only this tape...but rather to vote who they already planned to vote for.
Even some CNN pundits downplayed the significance of this tape on the American electorate.
(Canada) CBC Newsworld (Henry DeCamp)...basically stating that the bin Laden would boost the Bush camp...practically resigning Bush as a probably winner in spite of his many mistakes and blunders that would have cost any past candidates the election.
BBC and Guardian analysts seem to feel that this tape will give Bush at least a small boost.

1. Fox more accurate than Guardian today? |
|
In the Guardian articles, they are grumbling that bin Laden gave Bush a boost. Compare with Fox (at least 1 or 2 pollsters or commentators) admitting that Bush did not get a boost from bin Laden's tape.
Surely a crazy world we live in!
