21. Lets get real. Folks.
bush didn't kill Osama because he was told not to. The Royal family in Saudi Arabia told him no. Then he decided to go and avenge daddy. Don't get The jerk they are looking for in Iraq because then the war couldn't happen. bush loves war and thinks of it as a video game. He is a very sick man.

8. Bill Frist is a worthless POS
I know, he's my senator. His family owns Hospital Corporation of America. HCA has been overbilling Medicare for years. He sits at the head of the Senate voting on bills that will make this multi-millionaire even wealthier. This ass has been groomed all his life for this job. P.S. HE BRAGS THAT HE DIDN'T VOTE TILL HE WAS IN HIS LATE THIRTIES. What a cheap date.

17. I sure hope you guys find a dem candidate to run against him
and start now getting the candidate press. With this tape of fristy blaming the troops, it should be a shoe in to beat him. Do you guys have impeachment or recall laws for senators? hee, heee, fristy just ruined his political career! Anyone who blames the troops and not the admin should be removed form office!

12. Read this article and you will see WHY its the talking point of the day...
This is an article from the Washington Bureau of Knight Ridder, out today, that exposes what really happened in Tora Bora, according to reporters who were there at the time.

Here are some choice excerpts:
"Knight Ridder reporters Barry Schlachter of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Jonathan S. Landay and photographers Carl Juste and Peter Andrew Bosch of The Miami Herald were at Tora Bora during the battle, and photographer David Gilkey of the Detroit Free Press and reporter Drew Brown traveled there a year later, interviewed Afghan fighters, retraced al-Qaida escape routes and talked to Pakistani intelligence officers who were tracking al Qaida.

Their reporting found that Franks and other top officials ignored warnings from their own and allied military and intelligence officers that the combination of precision bombing, special operations forces and Afghan forces that had driven the Taliban from northern Afghanistan might not work in the heartland of the country's dominant Pashtun tribe.

While more than 1,200 U.S. Marines sat at an abandoned air base in the desert 80 miles away, Franks and other commanders relied on three Afghan warlords and a small number of American, British and Australian special forces to stop al-Qaida and Taliban fighters from escaping across the mountains into Pakistan."

13. I should add, the error at Tora Bora was made by Franks, not the troops
But I predict the Bush supporters, though, will try to spin any mention of this article as being, "against the troops."

16. GOP is the party blaming the troops! This is the reality.
Kerry well knows that troops don't plan the strategy, that is done by the leaders in D.C. The troops carry out those strategies on the battlefield.

By changing the argument of weakness on the leadership to an argument about blaming the troops, the GOP has in fact been the first to blame the troops.

19. True. And now the RW has also dug up an old interview where Kerry
praises the strategy of using local people to go after bin Laden. They are claiming it is another "flip flop" (gag), but what I want to know is did Kerry have access to all the info that Franks had in making the decision?

It seems to me that Kerry may have endorsed the idea, but it was up to Franks to carry it out effectively. In other words, the criticism of Kerry is only valid if he had complete access to know HOW Franks was making the decisions and on the basis of WHAT information (about who was doing our fighting for us).It only came out recently, it seems to me, that the people Franks trusted had, as recently as two weeks before, been fighting on the other side. Wasn't it up to Franks to do the vetting of the fighters?

Maybe this point should be made to quiet the RW chatterers about the Kerry Tora Bora interview.

15. Franks IS not "the troops." We see how he has glommed onto
Chimp's campaign in an effort to save face for his strategic blunders.

20. frist is my senator, too, and he disgusts me. he went to the same
prep school i did and his senior year was quarterback on a winless football team that was bookended by championship teams.

he's a doctor, yet has never voted against the gun or tobacco lobbies.

he's an arch-republican, yet his family's chain of hospitals performs abortions on demand.

perhaps our governor, phil bredesen, who has about a 75% approval rating, will run for senator. he'd be a very, very good one.
