I Just Saw The Most Disgusting Ad
I think it said it was by a group called Save American Medicine and it made all these wild claims that John Edwards ruined medicine and a couple of doctors in NC when he was a trial lawyer.

They claimed he and I quote "Brought the medical system to the brink of ruin in NC." Also said he sued a "very good OBGYN and she never practiced again."

It had two doctors in the ad - if they were doctors - who made some wild claims.

GOD!!! I'm furious!! The disclaimer at the end said they weren't edorsing anyone. HA! That's a laugh!! Had to be a 527. I had heard or read somewhere that the Repugs were going to go after John Edwards. I guess this is their attempt.

Lord I hate these people and want them all GONE!!!!!

:grr:  :nuke:

1. Is He Going To Hit Back
I remember in the Senate race his opponent threatened to do this & John Edwards threatened to bring out some of his clients whose lives had been ruined by medical incompetence.

Does he have the time to hit back now?

2. Imagine what these two docs probably did to their patients that Edwards
had to take them down. The patients probably suffered major traumatic experiences.

3. Scared Bankers & Investment Houses
The biggest losers of re-regulation of the insurance industry are these robber barons who love the high premiums with caps on their liabilities...and they've had carte blanche over the past 3 years to rewrite all sorts of regulations that have saved and made them billions from your insurance premiums.

Wanna bet at the first smell of trouble, these same assholes do running to a lawyer. How fast did Rushbo take to pay the big bucks for a Roy Black. These assholes are so damn greedy and heartless.

Here's hoping Tuesday starts a fundamental change in this society where it's the people who are protected and not the special interests. Well, at least I can dream.

4. Salvation Army disgusting experience....
I went to the Salvation Army Thriftstore to drop off some articles, at the same time, I was walking around looking at things. The store had a radio blasting religious music. They played one religious song every five minutes and the rest of the time, they begged for money, and in between mentioned their christian prez bush and his commitment to helping out the poor.

I asked a lady working at the store if they listened to that radio station all day. She said it's mandatory by management. I said, all they do is beg for money and promote bush.

I left the store and drove my donations to my favorite place, the Vietnam Veteran Thriftstore, 15 miles longer drive.

6. Uhh...you know the Salvation Army is a church, right?
So it makes sense that they'd have a station like that on. One that's listener-supported so they don't have to defile themselves by taking money from advertisers.

Uhh...why not just play religious CDs? Royalties. If you play records in your store, you have to send royalty payments in, but if you play the radio, you don't.

5. In all fairness, while Edwards did loads of good in his malpractice suits,

He also did harm to the OB/GYN profession when he bought into the arguement that birth trauma causes cerebal palsy. Yes, birth trauma can cause severe and permanent problems, but science now says that one of those problems is not cerebal palsy.

His work on forcing swimming pool manufacturers to make their products safer for children, though, is invaluable and was very much needed.

MEDICAL MALPRACTICE CASES
Another specialty Edwards developed was in medical malpractice cases involving problems during births of babies. According to the New York Times, after Edwards won a $6.5M verdict for a baby born with cerbral-palsy, he filed at least 20 similar lawsuits against doctors and hospitals in deliveries gone wrong, winning verdicts and settlements of more than $60M.

Case Summary of Facts Case Type Result
Griffin v. Teague, et al.
(Mecklenburg Co. Superior Ct., NC, 1997) Application of abdominal pressure and delay in performing c-section caused brain damage to infant and resulted in child having cerebral palsy and spastic quadriplegia. Verdict set record for malpractice award. Medical Malpractice $23.25M
verdict

Campbell v. Pitt County Memorial Hosp.
(Pitt County, NC, 1985) Infant born with cerebral palsy after breech birth via vaginal delivery, rather than cesarean. Established North Carolina precedent of physician and hospital liability for failing to determine if patient understood risks of particular procedure. Medical
Malpractice $5.75M
settlement

Wiggs v. Glover, et al. Plaintiff alleged infant's severe cerebral palsy was caused by negligent administration of pitocin, failure to use fetal monitor, or timely intervening in baby's fetal distress. Medical
Malpractice 2.5M
settlement

Dixon v. Pitt County Memorial Hospital
(Pitt County, NC) Birth-related injuries including cerebral palsy and mental retardation allegedly caused by obstetrician's failure to diagnose fetal distress, including umbilical cord wrapped around baby's neck prior to delivery. Medical
Malpractice 2.4M
settlement

on edit: removed one lawsuit that did not site cerebal palsy... it mentioned only brain damage, which can be a result of birth trauma.
