That Cook guy is basically saying that Bush
has it. I only tuned in for like a minute or two but he was saying he has Florida, Ohio and Wisconsin trending towards Bush.

4. Really? I thought people were saying
he was fair or something. That is why I was paying attention to him. Well, crossing him off my list as people to listen to...

3. What dope is he smoking?
Wisconsin is clear trending towards Kerry for one thing and most polls recently have had Kerry tied or ahead in Ohio and Florida is heading our way too.

16. On October 28 2000 Charlie Cook had Bush ahead in Florida by a
couple of points but had Nader polling up to 10 percentage points in some states. Correct me if I am wrong but I do not think Nader polled anywhere near the 5- 10 points he was talking about on CNN that day.
He tries like everyone else tries to get a decent result but he was wrong, very wrong about Florida and about Nader and that was in about the same time frame as we find ourselves today. Grain of salt and he wouldn't be on MTP this am if there were not already aware of exactly what he was going to say and in agreement with his "facts".

8. Cook Used To Be Reliable
He had the best info on the state, house and senate races, but his insticts here are running against virtually every other pollster...even the Repugnican ones.

If anyone, Charlie should be tracking the coat-tails on these races...how a strong Kerry showing in PA will help Joe Hoeffel or a strong Feingold push in Wisconsin helps Kerry and so on, but he's reading tea leaves or something.

Or, should I suspect he's bought and paid for this political season and goes down with the ship, then starts looking for new clients starting next week. Hmmm....

12. I admit I was only watching for a couple of minutes but
I thought for sure he said Ohio and Florida were leaning towards Bush. Either way, he still predicted a Bush win.

11. I thought I saw where Mason-Dixon had Kerry up by one in Wisc.
If M-D gives Kerry a slight edge he is probably up by 5 or 6.

15. And Craig Crawford and John Zogby gives it to Kerry
Opinions are like noses, everyone has one. By researching Zogby's track record on Presidential polls I value his opinion more. Cook was on with Matthews on Friday saying the sky is falling and that the tapes will help Bush. Well he was proven wrong.

17. Do these talking-head pollsters ever saying anything about GOTV?
All reports I have seen say there are hordes of newly registered voters. I will bet the farm these new voters are Dems. Fuck the polls. They are last year's answer for today question.

18. You missed the beginning
He said that turnout may go through the roof and if that happens anything is possible. He also predicted Bush would win 271-269, hardly a ringing endorsement of Bush's chances. Now that jerk from the Wall Street Journal....
