Reuters: "Wall St. Wants a Quick, Clean Election"
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=580&e=1&u=/nm/20041030/bs_nm/markets_stocks_election_dc

NEW YORK (Reuters) - It won't be just a sigh of relief on Wall Street but an ovation if the U.S. presidential election on Tuesday produces a clear winner and avoids a repeat of the chaotic 2000 results.

And the cheers for a clean vote are expected to drown out partisan cries of victory or defeat.

With a clear winner, apprehension about a long courtroom brawl will end, fears about attacks on the United States to disrupt the balloting will subside, and divisive campaign rhetoric will fall silent.

Concerns about another drawn-out legal fight for the presidency is widespread because Democrats and Republicans will have legions of lawyers dispatched across the country to scrutinize the voting, prepared to fight any irregularities.

"President George W. Bush hopes he's "Still The One" with voters next week, but he will no longer campaign using the pop song of the same name(AFP/File/Tim Sloan)"

3. And we all know that Wall Street is more important than...
We The People.

I agree with Wall Street, but people in Hell want Ice Water too. It was you people in Wall Street that made Bush happen in the first place. :eyes:

4. If Kerry wins clearly, Dow etc. will go up at least 1% that day.
If there is no clear victor or Bush is the clear victor, it will go down.

Contrary to what a lot of pundits say, it's not just "certainty" but "certainty that things are going to get better" that stockholders want.

5. They can tell it to the judges

What is the number of legal actions already filed? I lost count.

No one can predict how many will be filed on Tuesday, or Wednesday, or Thursday...
