Defend our democracy by buying Land's End! |
|
As noted on a previous thread, its owner is adamantly against *, and blasts him for threatening our children's future. :kick: http://www.landsend.com/?sid=2969093959722161060&cm_ven=Google&cm_cat=LE&cm_pla=LE_Name&cm_ite=Home_Page

3. Excellent! I just started my Christmas shopping. |
|
A couple of $100 gift cards for the sis and bro-in-law, with a note thanking them for registering in Florida and voting Kerry.
:)

4. Where is that previous DU thread? Lands End sounds like a Bushite co. |
|
and I'd be surprised (pleasantly) if they endorsed Kerry, or at least did not endorse Bush!

Now I don't have to feel guilty about the really nice wool coat I just ordered from them.:) I have to say, they're quality is great, and so is their customer service. I hope they pay their workers well, and offer health benefits. I also wish their clothing was made in the USA, but I guess that's too much to hope for these days.

10. Isn't this the company |
|
that had Guliani come give a speech to the employees that turned out to be a campaign speech for Bush? I remember the employees complaining, because they were expecting a motivational speech. I assumed the owners were pro-Bush.
Isn't Lands End also now owned by Sears?
P.S. Been a Lands End shopper for years. Since that whole Guliani thing, I've been buying from LL Bean. Willing to give them another chance if this is true.

11. land's end is owned by sears. they brought in rudy giuliani |
|
to speak at headquarters and he turned the event into a pro-bush pep rally.
and, finally, very little of their mdse is made in the u.s.a. i sent an email to them inquiring about this, and they proudly told me the percentage (i forget what it was) of their clothing that's made in north america.
when i emailed back that "north america" includes countries in central and south america notorious for sweat shops and that i wanted to know what percentage was made in THIS country, i never heard back from them.
and also about the sears connection -- sears recently signed a contract to outsource its IT operations to a country that has a strong india connection (if it isn't located in india itself. i don't remember precisely.). they've also made large cuts in store management, as well as store administration personnel. ( a member my immediate family works on the floor at sears, so i've heard that last part first hand.)
i don't shop at land's end anymore and called them last week to ask that i be removed from their mailing list.
i hated doing that because i was a loyal land's end customer for over 10 years and spent probably $200-$300 with them every year, counting christmas purchases for people who have gone on to become loyal land's end customers.
i always thought their mdse was extremely well-made and carried a reasonable price. i loved ordering via phone and throught their customer service was exceptional. i even used to buy their stock back during the clinton years, when you could make money on it.
if land's end's founder feels screwed by bush, i'm sorry. many of the rest of us feel screwed by bush. however, i cannot in good conscience spend money with land's end.

12. I do, but the previous owner of Lands' End sold it to Sears |
|
I think for more than $2 billion.
Anyway, I still like their clothes (top quality and last forever) and have been buying from them for 20 years.
