Kerry at the Dayton, Ohio Church.......
Edited on Sun Oct-31-04 11:29 AM by liberalnurse
I just got back from attending the Shiloh Baptist Church Service with John Kerry. I understand it was on C-Span!

Oh, what a memorable experience. The choir was magnificent, the congregation was devoted and dedicated to Kerry's mission.....Reverend Backus used the story of David and Goliath for the sermon.I've got photo's too.

It was a grand spiritual send-off of love and support for Kerry. He really enjoyed the service. You could see the peace on his face.!

I got interviewed by the London Times! Look for an article from the event. They interview focus was regarding the Osama video..... Good for *bush or Kerry ???? My husband and I, aka Frank and Judy, gave a good feedback. They took our names, I'm the registered nurse. I don't get the London Times so can someone let me know if you see our interview?

6. Church was filled. It was like a Holiday attendance.
It was not advertised thus it was not swapped with Kerry supporters beyond the beloved congergation... It was televised locally. It was a great, warm, and spiritual event. It was very "church like" not diminished by the media. A fantastic experience. Sharing Kerry's pre-election church service together. :grouphug:

9. The Times does have an online edition
But it doesn't carry everything the newspaper carries , though I would think that this story may be online .

10. I caught the end of CSpan's coverage- Kerry's head was bowed in prayer
This looked like a wonderful spiritual time for him and the congregation. I just caught the last few minutes on CSpan where he left the podium and sat down bowing his head in prayer and contemplation. Thanks for posting!

11. I guess I just found a new church! Mine is pushing Bush
so we have all but left. I'm Catholic though, is it true that Baptists don't like Catholics or is that a myth (I guess from today they like one Catholic!)

14. This church is very welcoming.

I too am Catholic.......but this church has a strong sense of community. Mayor McLin, this is her church. They immediately welcome newcomers. They have proctors and ushers all thru the church, greeting the members.

They also support 3 Parish Nurses for their community. These nurses meet as needed with the infirmed members of the church and families.

12. I caught part of the service. Thought it was beautiful too.
Kerry is truly a spiritual man. It was cool that one of the reporters following his campaign on another channel also mentioned he attended mass this morning as well. I think e does that every week, wherever he's campaigning.

15. I talked to my mother a few minutes ago
she said Kerry was using the church and blah, blah, blah

I reminded her of * going to mass and he's not even catholic. :)

She's worried now.

16. Kerry used this church for his spiritual
time before the election. The sermon was about David and Goliath. He did not do a stump speech. He did speak and you can watch the video to get a sample of his sharing with us.....As a Catholic myself, this style of faith expression had a more nurturing, "family feel" and sense of blessing by all who attended. It was helpful for me too! The choir was magnificent. You could feel God in the room, we were all neighbors,"We are all in the same boat now", as Carol Mosley Braun so insightfully shares.

17. Just want to share one of my best memories of '92
Clinton went to a black church and gave a speech. I saw it on CSPAN. I remember it being a Sunday, but it may not have been. What I do remember is my emotion. I have never been so moved by a political speech before or since. I was an adult in '63, so I can remember MLK's Lincoln Memorial speech well, but Clinton is the best speaker I have ever seen or heard.
