I hope that a number of Black voters wake up by Tuesday.......... |
|
I know that there have been a lot of polls showing that Kerry is lagging about 6-8 points behind Gore's over 90% support by the Black community...but I saw in one (think Zogby) that it is a factor in the Wisconsin race right now and could be a factor in these tight states. I would like to point out something.
Bush outright spit in the Blacks face when he did his little challenge to Affirmative Action (remember?). He spit in their faces by refusing to meet with the Black Caucus and refusing to go to several Black conventions (remember?). And on the eve of the election (how arrogant) he turns the IRS lose on the NAACP (while the Christian right--and white--preachermen violate this same law day in and day out).
I know some Blacks feel the Dems have not addressed their concerns. I hope on the way to the polls, the Black community stops asking itself "what have the Dems done for us" and instead ask "what are the Republicans planning to do TO us". This race is coming down to their vote and the young people's vote.

4. I simply pointing out what the stats are showing and pollsters like |
|
Zogby are saying---it's not my OPINION. It's that there is a lag over what Gore pulled and Zogby pointed out that it is one of the factors he found in polling Wisconsin. Yes there are about a billion and half stupid as dogshit white male voters---we know that and they always vote republican. That's a given. We now need those few reluctant, for whatever reason, Blacks back in our fold and voting. They are one of our strongest bases and I'm hoping that Black leaders are firing them up right now as we speak.

5. I understand your intention here but saying that you hope they "wake up" |
|
is insulting. ALL Americans need to wake up. Young women need to wake up. Anyone who has never voted before needs to wake up.

And I would add that most black voters are, in my experience, far more alert and awake to political realities than any other demographic group in this country. They are just widely ignored by the majority of white voters, by the media, by the pundits and pollsters, by the candidates themselves -- until a race gets tight. Then both sides look to blacks to stand up and save the day for their candidate (who will likely go right back to ignoring them the day after election day).

9. Why don't you try READING |
|
I did not say DID I that ALL Blacks better wake up. 84-85% of them are very much awake and voting Kerry. We are down about 6 points from the numbers actually turned out for Gore. THOSE are the ones that need to wake up and look at exactly what I said in my post: Bush not only hasn't done anything for the Black community, he has openly attacked them. Just once, once I would like to see people, read and think a minute before they take a one shot look at the first line and run around screeching............

11. I did read. Why don't you understand that what you wrote comes across |
|
to a few posters who have replied as insulting? "A number of Black voters" does not sound like you meant 15 or 16%. And if you consider my very polite post to be screeching, you must have a very quick temper.

7. This is the key to the election |
|
The reason why the election is polling so closely is because Bush has increased his level of support among blacks, that would be the ultimate irony, blacks tip Bush over the top. I would like to know what's happening on the grass-roots level to reverse this.
