IA Push Polling?
I was at another Kerry event this morning, where he gave a somewhat less than inspiring stump speech, just keeping an eye on things.

Anyway, I asked the woman next to me if she had decided and she said that she hadn't. But she didn't like Dean because she wasn't comfortable with the whole Skull and Bones connection. I gently pointed out that Dean wasn't in S&B, but Kerry was. I asked her where she heard that and she said someone called her about a poll and she was asked a question if Dean's links to S&B made her more or less likely to vote for him.

Push Polling in IA?

1. Well...
...it would serve Kerry no good, seeing as he IS S&B, so I don't see why he'd be doing it. Furthermore, of all the stupid things they could push poll on...skull & bones? ooooookkkkkk...

3. Don't look at me
that's what the lady said.

Kerry may not be doing it, but someone might.

2. Fraternity question?
if you're going to push a poll, wouldn't you push it harder than THAT?

8. Well, there are a lot of people
who think Skull & Bones are more than just a fraternity. I don't remember the particulars, but there are some conspiracy theories that involve this organization.

17. Illuminati, Knights Templar, Jewish Banking Conspiracy
Those are some of the secret societies that people think have an ulterior motive for taking over the world, and some believe people in those societies are loyal to the society over the interests of the country.

Is it true? Well, I don't believe it...

4. It certainly looks like it.
If it is going on, someone is certainly pulling out all the stops.

5. And the reason Iowans (or any one, at this stage)

would care about Skull and Bones is what again?

I have my doubts as to whether ANYONE from Kerry's camp is push polling on that. :)

9. It obviously worked on her
I don't think it's Kerry either. But someone called her and implied that Dean was a member of Skull and Bones.

It wasn't Rove, either. Since Incurious George has the same distinction.

It was kind of wierd.

12. Do you think she was serious?

That is truly bizarre if true - it just seems to have no bearing on a primary. Seems as if this tactic was to be utilized they'd go right for the jugular, and not the shin. :)

Edit: You know, Lehane really ought to listen to Howard Dean and realize that the way to beat Karl Rove is NOT be be like him.

11. Must be Gephardt
Despicable.

Where's that Kerry supporter who insists on accusing Dean of push-polling (when it clearly wasn't)? THIS is push polling.

14. Didn't we just see an article where the big pukes are headed to town?
They must be bringing their "bag 'O dirty tricks" with them. Next it will be, "Would you like (name) if you found out he BURNED A FLAG in college?" You know how they are with the flag business.

15. And she just knew what Skull and Bones was?
I find this a bit much, surely there was other than that said to her, wasn't there?

And then there were none!

20. I remember spending the night in Des Moines
and everywhere I went, I was asked whether I had a Skull & Bones discount card. It's a HUGE deal out that way.

21. That's what I think
The woman misunderstood the caller. The push poller said "If you knew that Kerry belonged to Skull and Bones..." This is the only explanation that makes sense.

22. More likely to be push polling by Dean camp
trying to drag the Skull and Bones over Kerry. Your fellow rally participant there was most likely just confused.

23. Same thing was said by a CSPAN caller a few weeks ago
A woman calling in to Washington Journal identified herself as a Kerry supporter and said she opposed Howard Dean because he was S&B while at Yale.
