bush + laura attended Mass today? They're not even Catholic!
Catholics must be incensed that the rate of abortion increased 'on bush's watch' and was lower during Clinton's term!

2. Is this not pandering of the worst sort?
Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what it smacks of to me.
Bush, who spoke at Bob Jones University, attends mass in Florida.

I don't think I'm wrong. If I'd been in the congregation, I would have gotten up and left in protest.

I was watching a special on MSNBC about big George. Bib Barb wore the same type of outfits. Her skirts (Big Babs) also end about an inch below the kneecap, looked very weird. She was wearing these floaty type skirts with those wide hips and had these knobby looking legs sticking out.

65. Ian Paisley is a demagogue in Northern Ireland
who stirs up hatred against Catholics and has been one of the main obstacles to the Peace Process in the 6 counties . He was given an honorary doctorate from Bob Jones University . This was back in the 80's but I still remember the hateful things he had to say about my co-religionists . Additionally , a friend of mine who is a Republican who campaigned for * in 2000 in Greenville where BJU is located . He went into the college bookstore and was absolutely appalled by the number and the intensity of the hateful anti-Catholic tracts which were on sale . The bishops who are trying to sway their flock to the Republicans are consorting with people who think we are less than human .

14. Gee, the last time I went to a Catholic Church I was called a heretic.
The priest went on and on about those who do not believe in the "one true church", Catholic, and who belonged to other denominations such as Baptist (well, I usta be!). Called us heretics. I had to laugh--the guy's pretty old and maybe just out of touch, but it was enough to make me sorry I'd gone. (Attended with a relative who was visiting from out of town.) Actually, I guess I'm not sorry I went, since I now know what Catholics think about me.

Hope the sermon Bush heard was better. I'm pretty sure he wasn't called a heretic, but I'm also guessing the priest didn't talk about the horrors of war and the hundreds of thousands of deaths because of our illegal and pointless invasion of Iraq. Like I said...just a guess.

DEFEAT BUSH!!

50. That's unusual
I'm Catholic and I have never, not once, heard a single reference to any other religion in church in the nearly 50 years I've attended in various states across the US. However, I've also attended churches of several other denominations and every single one of them launched tirades against Catholics. It was very bizarre. :freak: Made me appreciate what I have so much more. Something must've set off the priest you heard that day. That's too bad.

You don't seriously think Junior was listening to the sermon, do you?! Probably heard elevator music in his head, instead. LOL! I'm just amazed the church is still standing. God must be looking forward to Tuesday, instead, to deliver Junior's present (of retirement). ;)

59. I remember being taught in Catechism classes in the 50s
that Catholics were never to attend services in a church of another faith (including Protestant), including participating in weddings in other churches. Also, as Catholics, we were discouraged to include people of other faiths in our wedding services. If this were to happen, the person was not to be allowed to stand inside the altar rail. If a Catholic happened to marry (outside the church) a person of a different faith, it was referred to as a "mixed marriage."

Non-Catholics were also not allowed to be godparents of Catholic babies.

We were encouraged as kids to try to get other kids to attend our church, the True Church.

63. Ouch. I'm glad I only know the post-Vatican II faith, then
I don't remember much about pre-Vatican II, although I have a vague recollection of the Latin masses, plus being required to wear a hat and gloves in church. I guess I'm lucky that that's all I can recall of that time. Good grief. It's much different now, even vastly different from church to church. I suppose I hadn't realized before just how much has changed for that to ever happen.

17. This photo disgusts me. The church has allowed itself to become a
pimp for the bush* administration. But when you think about it, they're not so different. Both are firm believers that human beings are never supposed to think for themselves, that they are to take orders from a 'moral' authority. They both promote the concept that people are to follow blindly without ever asking themselves the question "Is this right, is this fair, is this the truly moral and ethical thing to do"? And both the church and the bush* administration need it's followers to be as damn dumb as a box of rocks in order to get them to follow them blindly. And both are consumed by their own quest for power.

I was baptized Catholic, but from the time I learned to read I became sceptical about the church and it's teachings. Funny, both try to make you believe so hard that they are promoting the teachings of Jesus Christ, and yet when you disect their true message, it's all about earthly riches, power, and self-interest.

51. It says he is a Monsignor
I don't know if the Episcopalians have that or not.

It is for certain though that this church is far to the right and that is very disturbing to me. Perhaps it is even Opus Dei. This picture reminds me of (gonna say it) Hitler and his connections to the Catholic church . Many photos of him in that church and photos of priests, Bishops, etc. all gathering around him and smiling. Pays to be in good with the fascist leader--more power for them, they think although it never turns out that way and after it is over, they still have the same flock as always. And I also wonder if this is a Catholic church, if it is not another Bush attempt toward one upmanship on Kerry attending mass at a Catholic church--although today Kerry was in a Baptist church. Kerry did not have a sore thumb Stepford clown dressed in shocking chartreuse by his side though.

I don't give a shit where they go, Kerry is a much better Christian than Bush will ever be. Kerry has genuine goodness in his heart and cares about people. Bush only cares about them until they are born...unless it's his girlfriend Robin Lowman's.

Bush has caused more people to have abortions because more people are poor now and can't afford to raise children. He's an asshole of the highest order and most definitely PRO-DEATH and ANTI-LIFE.
