RAIN - The 'Hanging Chad' of 2004
Edited on Sun Oct-31-04 02:17 PM by indigobusiness
For awhile, I've been thinking that the impending rain for election day will help Kerry. The rain seemed likely to be more confined to the south...but NOW it looks more widespread.

edit- What will this do to Fla?

If large voter turnout favors Dems...could this be an unfavorable development?

1. I think this glass is half full.
Dems are not going to be deterred by rain. This one goes to the most passionate voters. I think that's us.

3. Rain is forecast in my area Tuesday
Nothing will keep me from Voting, nor should RAIN, NOR SLEET, NOR SNOW or anything else keep any of us from our job on Tuesday which is to vote no to fascism. If you are going to let the weather dictate whether you vote or not then you obviously do not love our country. Leave the pussifying to the other guys, get your ass to the voting booth.

And I voted early.

19. I'm hoping some patriotic Americans will let the old and infirm
move to the head of the line.

Everyone who's in line has the right to vote, so why not give those who would have trouble staying in line for hours the prime slots?

4. I think that poor weather on election day might help Kerry this time
The reason? People who want to vote for Kerry - and against shrub - are a lot more committed and enthused than those who feel the opposite.

Small example. Yesterday I was watching my son play baseball and learned that the grandma sitting next to me was a shrub supporter, to the consternation of her entire family. However, everyone in the family except her had already voted! They had all voted for Kerry earlier this week, but grandma shrub supporter was planning to go on Tuesday. If the weather is lousy here in NC on Tuesday, she just might end up skipping the whole thing.

8. Agreed, Kerry voters are overall more motivated
and will stand in long lines even in the rain.

Of course I know we need the lukewarm Kerry supporters to vote also, but I expect that there are "raining-too-hard-can't-vote" people on both sides, and they will cancel each other out.

As for me, I will be in Southern OH, in what's predicted as heavy rain and thunder, and it will be grand!

To celebrate for the same cause don't matter the weather
If it rains let it rain, yea the wetter the better

5. Don't know, but I could see a lot of moms
home with small children (who they would have to take with them to vote) staying home, to avoid standing out in the rain with kids.

I don't know if/how that would affect anything, but it's just my observation.

7. Realism creeps into the picture...
and rears its ugly head.

This is a good example of how rain can skew the whole dynamic.

11. F* NO! I live in Oregon. RAIN IS NOTHING!
if it was hailing fiery hailstones you'd have a point. If people don't want to hold an umbrella and save this Democracy then I guess I'll just have to pack my bags and head to Australia or somewhere. But I have faith in our motivated young people.

Suddenly, voting is fashionable. It's like the hot thing now.

WE WILL TURN OUT THE VOTERS: ESPECIALLY THE YOUNG COLLEGE WOMEN. SING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi - Hi! We're your Weather Girls - Ah-huh -
And have we got news for you - You better listen!
Get ready, all you angry girls
and leave those umbrellas at home. - Alright! -

Humidity is rising - Barometer's getting low
According to all sources, the poll’s the place to go
Cause tonight for the first time
Just about half-past ten
For the first time this century
It's gonna start raining Dems.

It's Raining Dems! Hallelujah! - It's Raining Dems! Amen!
I'm gonna go out to run and rock the vote!
Gonna sink the Bush’s boat!
It's Raining Dems! Hallelujah!
It's Raining Dems! Every Specimen!
Lib, mod, Gay and straight
Young, old, the whole Dem slate!

God bless Mother Nature, she's so Democratic too
She took off to heaven and she did what she had to do
She taught every angel to rearrange the day
So that whiney Republicans would stay away
It's Raining Dems! Hallelujah! - It's Raining Dems! Amen!
It's Raining Dems! Hallelujah!
It's Raining Dems! Ame---------nnnn!

I feel stormy weather / Moving in about to begin
Hear the thunder / Don't you lose your mind
Rip off the roof and get in line

God bless Mother Nature, she's so Democratic too
She took off to heaven and she did what she had to do
She taught every angel to rearrange the day
So that whiney Republicans would stay away
It's Raining Dems! Yeah!

Humidity is rising - Barometer's getting low
According to all sources, the street's the place to go
Cause tonight for the first time
Just about half-past ten
For the first time this century
It's gonna start raining Dems.

It's Raining Dems! Hallelujah! - It's Raining Dems! Amen!

shows rain east of the Mississippi to be widespread and reaching farther N than I expected.

16. Rain forecast in Ohio
My mom used to say "a rainy day is a Democrat day" & she was always right! I think it had something to do with farmers not being able to work in the fields; although, in my part of Ohio, that wasn't always the case - too, repug here. But, as always, I have hope & we are too smart to let a little rain stop us - Kerry On!!!!!!!

22. If people are standing in line
for three hours+ in Florida, I don't think rain is going to deter anyone. (I hope) The turnout will still be high. We will win.
