I believe the election will be settled on Tuesday night.
"Polls tied" "Unbelievably close race" "Candidates neck-in-neck down to the final wire" "a thin razors-edge" . This is what the polls are saying, with only 48 hours to go.

Newspapers give the image of two race horses, neck in neck as they go round the final lap. As the public shrieks frantically, the adrenaline starts pumping furiously as all eyes are riveted on the two as they inch forward, retreat slightly, and inch forward again.

Many people believe we're in for a rough ride on Wednesday, November 3. There are thousands of attorneys lined up on both sides of the fence to start the court battle to determine who will win the ultimate prize: the presidency.

There are fights breaking out, threats and filming going on. A carnival-like atmosphere reigns in Florida with chihuahuas in Kerry t-shirts and a monkey sporting a "no Neanderthal" sign. The new social hot-spot: the voting place. Who could have guessed?

Because the race is so close and so many people are expecting wholesale cheating, they assume we won't know who the winner is for many days, maybe weeks after the event.

I believe we'll know who the winner is late Tuesday night or maybe in the early hours Wednesday morning. It's going to be John Kerry. I've seen photos of Bush these last few days. He looks upset, pondering. Karl Rove the numbers aren't there. They haven't told us everything, but if you read between the lines, you'll know it's true.

Molly Ivins, in her editorial in the Sunday Oregonian writes, "Ladbrokes, the English betting firm, is offering 6-to-5 on Kerry. That was actually a thread that I myself posted about 1 week ago here at the DU; about Ladbrokes favoring Kerry.

There won't be an agonizing wait this time.

1. Do you think all the court cases will be withdrawn? And there will be no

new ones filed on Tuesday or the days after?
